ITV's 'driver of the day' seems to be turning out to be somewhat different to our current views......go figure.

Hard to say it,considering the circumstances, but I think it goes to Hamilton. I just hope he looks back at this weekend and learns. A lot!
However, on Sunday he led from lights to flag, and you can't do any better than that. |

My vote goes to the driver of the pace car - didnt put a foot wrong today in fact didnt venture onto the track but was still more exciting than this rubbish they serve up as the pinnacle of racing.......

Nick got my vote. First of all for quali 3rd on the grid and second for finishing 3rd. To keep Alonso from finishing on the podium was a great job done.

Surely the measure of a good driver is one who gets better results out of the car than the car deserves to achieve.
So really it cannot go to Hamilton. Budapest is a McCircuit and they must have expected a 1-2 finish before they even got on their jets to go there. Most F1 drivers would have finished first if they had been on pole in that car. For the donkeys Budapest is their worst circuit, they have built a car that likes speed and hates Mickey Mouse driving. All weekend it was evil handling and they were having huge trouble turning in and nailing apexes. They must have expected 5th at best before they even got on their jets. So it took the genius of Kimi just to get that dog of a car up to fourth on the grid. The behaviour of the McBrats gifted him 3rd and the good side of the grid. Then he made the most decisive (in world championship points terms) overtake of the day, getting past Heidfeld into turn one. Then, as the track rubbered in he got faster and faster, finishing (in typical Kimi style) with the fastest lap of the race. He was never going to get past the McMerc of Hamilton, the circuit doesn't allow it and the McMerc had a huge agility advantage through the tight turns. No wonder Ron was so unhappy at winning the race. He has to go back to court over the cheating scandal, the McBrats are at war with each other and, worst of all, Kimi in the Ferrari looks like the best package in F1 at the moment. For a control freak it must be looking like the end of the world. |

I voted for Heidfeld. His pace for most of the race was very quick, but the BMW still lacks that tiny bit of pace to keep up with the Ferrari and McLaren.

My head is telling me to vote for Hamilton, but I voted for Ralf because the opportunity doesn't come round very often.

Plenty of candidates: Hamilton, Heidfeld, Rosberg, and others, even Ralf (now there's something you don't see every day). I'll go with Kimi for keeping the Ferrari close to Hamilton, no more than a 2 or 3 second interval (maybe), all day.

Can't see why Hamilton is getting more votes than Kimi here...
I guess the non-biased people have split their votes amongst the other drivers... |

I don't know DJ, I found it hard to really gauge a few people's drives simply beacuse they didn't get much air time e.g. Rosberg, Heidfeld, Ralf to name a few. It was a bit of a tough call in that respect, for me anyway.

After all the shenannigans of the day before and Kimi breathing down his neck the entire race, Hamilton could so easliy have let it all get to him. He didn't and in the race he was flawless.

Voted for Hamilton (for the super concentration for 70 laps with Raikkonen in his mirrors and turmoil in the team); honourable mentions for Alonso (for never giving up and always trying to the end), Schumacher (for finally trying to justify a drive for 2008) and Vettel (for saying all the right things the team wants to hear).

Sutil for me
Beat the works Honda of Barichello on pace. $ for $ that's an impressive achievement. How long before another team snaps him up? Hamilton won but on that circuit anything less than a win from pole is dismal failure, Kimi and Nick did ok and it was good to see Williams picking up points again as well (even it it was the Timotei Kid rather than the Toothy Plankmeister). |
