Torro Rosso and VW
I noted in the post qualifying interviews that Voltswagon has some sort of sponsorship/endorsment deal with Torro Rosso (its on their boards that the driver stands in front of for interviews).
Does anyone have details on this deal ? could it have greater significance for the future ? Discuss. |

Red Bull sponsor a lot of VW/Audi groups motor racing, Audi in DTM, Seat in WTCC, VW in Dakar

RBR have a similar arrangement (possibly exactly the same).

VW logos have appeared on everything STR since they entered last year - they are also plastered all over their press releases. I don't think it is anything more than a tenuous link given they also sponsor the VW Group quite heavily in WTCC, DTM, Dakar etc.
Who wouldn't want to see VW involved in F1 in some way though - I wouldn't turn down seeing a Lamborghini badge in F1 again |

Don't start off the VW-To-F1 thing again...how many times must we go through that...?
What would the media do if it happened? There would be a reasonable chunk of speculation space to plug. They could fill the space with decent reporting, but they will probably tell us about Hamilton's five trillion dollar offer from Prodrive to spearhead their Lotus programme. |

VW have repeatedly declared their non-interest in F1.

Well, in recent years they have repeatedly stated their strong lack of desire to get involved.
You can take that as meaning there is a chance of it happening if you want to. |

Interestingly the VW rationale for not being in F1 has been that it is a technically DUMB formula and that more can be learned in LMS, Raid etc. which allow tech inovation.
Maybe the signalling of new technologies being encouraged, rather than banned, in F1 could be encouraging to them. Notable that VW and Ford were included in the "Ricardo" discussions along with the involved manufacturers. And of course Porsche is a major shareholder in VW. |
