Pole Position for the Thai boy Albon! Latifi felt the pressure!

With the results aggregated, Albon and de Vries occupy the front row, with Markelov starting alongside Sette Camara behind them. Antonio Fuoco starts from fifth, ahead of countryman Luca Ghiotto. Maximilian Günther and Arjun Maini start tomorrow’s race from seventh and eighth, while Ferrucci and Ralph Boschung complete the top ten.

The Thai-half prevailed today or he'd break under pressure too

Suicidal move from Russell and such pedestrian tyre changes from MP.

Now it’s comedy hour!

Also notice that the Bullshit GP logos removed from Albon’s car. Shock! Not.

What on earth was Gelael doing behind the SC? He restarted 14sec behind the next car wtf? That cost him the race. How can you be plonking around so far behind the next car? He was closer to the next car before the SC. SC comes out and he's slowing down an extra 3-4sec per sector. Not that I wanted Gelael to win, but I wanted Markelov to win even less after his lottery win from 2016 that shouldn't have been allowed. But the team should be pretty annoyed at him for that. Equally his team mate de Vries who held him up a few seconds.

Tough one for Norris because he was so fast and he had to go for that move at the last chicane. Just bad luck in quali, bad luck with Gelael covering his undercut... if not for that no one else covered him so he would have been 4th...2nd if Albon/de Vries still crashed but that's unlikely since in alternate world of Gelael not pitting then Norris never would have crashed into Boschung so there would have been no SC, so Norris would have easily undercut Boschung.

The Albon/de Vries crash, boy what a shame for those guys. de Vries really did nothing wrong but just bad luck that it resulted in contact.

I just hope someone shows the wall to Fuoco tomorrow, after his poor response to getting a penalty for pushing Ghiotto straight into the wall and now he gets reverse grid pole out of it and unless Aitken clears him, he'll win.

Did they run out of money after two weekends?

Interesting that Ferrucci stalled and Merhi was very slow getting away, maybe the clutch issue isn't 100% sorted yet? Russell, Norris and to a lesser extent Albon all guilty of some dodgy snap decision driving.

Yes, Norris got drive through. And Albon got grid penalty for race 2. Both quite rightly.

Fuoco got drive through but really should have been DQ from the whole weekend for what was an utterly disgraceful act.

I agree Peebee, i dont really understand what he was thinking.

Thought Maini did a good job, there was a period in the race where he was faster than Markelov and setting consistent fastest laps.

Maini is a decent driver, though I suspect the team is struggling with feedback.

Gelael had a huge accident on the exit of the swimming pool chicane. Shame for the SC, we had a good race between Fuoco and Norris.

Anyone see Albon nearly hit a marshal? was terrifying.

Great action between Markelov and Deletraz. Deletrazs tyres are gone. And another VSC, Russell into the wall.

Bad weekend for Russell wasn't it? I didn't hear why he was so slow in quali but he's up there with Norris and Leclerc level of talent so it's weird to have such a bad weekend and then crash all on his own.

This weekend certainly helped Norris firstly, now a 27 point lead... how the heck has that happened with a rookie, rookie team, against the level of competition this year. Crazy. If he continues to pull away in points and wins more races, that'll be one impressive championship. Leclerc, Gasly, Vandoorne, Palmer probably all at least had the dominant car those years. Norris doesn't.

But him and especially Markelov who's scored 35 out of his 71 points this weekend. He was crazy exciting in that 2nd race wasn't he? Glad he couldn't get past Deletraz though because some of his moves were so dangerous. The same move that Norris got a penalty for in race 1 but he was even further back, but this time got away with it. The move on Maini was just a divebomb that would have been a crash with many drivers. He's not really thinking points is he? But certainly exciting to watch.

Norris penalised for VSC infractions, and drops to third.

Fuoco also penalised but keeps win in CRS one-two.

Merhi drops back, inevitably, after passing under the SC.

Ferrucci also penalised, presumably for being out of his depth (should be in F4).

Well said! But be reminded he is a Haas F1 Team junior team driver. We never know when Mr Haas will call him to replace Grosjean.

There is a new rule. For the 2018 season when a SC is deployed the drivers have to follow the VSC mode during the first 2 laps. After that they are allowed to close the gap to the SC. So if the SC stays out for less than 3 laps the gaps between drivers will stay the same as they were before the SC deployment.
