The event is run by BARC. As far as I know, trainees can attend; however, there the event is likely to be oversubscribed and therefore there may some sort of selection criteria to select marshals.

I went last year, as a trainee, and had a great time. I am not sure if there was any selection; we had 5 or 6 on our post. It was the first time in a long time for a members' meeting, so it may well be more popular this year.
It doesn't show on the BMMC volunteering list at the moment, but is on the BARC list.

I recived an exciting envelope with GRRC on it today.....

I thought it would be my tickets to marshal at the MM event as I have applied with the BARC.

But it was just a mail shot promoting the event.

Oh well.... I wait in hope.

Andy

You may get better news in a BARC envelope...

You may be lucky, I have received a 'thanks but No' letter... Shame, I thought last year was excellent and I was hoping to go back.

Well I registered for the event via the BARC when the list was available and I have not had a rejection letter .......yet!

Maybe the Goodwood MM brochure was only sent to marshals who have been chosen to attend by the BARC?

Interesting!

Has anyone had confirmation of their attendance yet?

Will it show on my BARC web availability list?

Thanks

I'm also on post 3 as I.O.

There are shower and toilet portacabins on the camp site which is only a five minute walk from sign on. The ground is nice and flat (unlike Silverstones GP camp site)

Anyone got spare tickets for Saturday.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have spare ticket for Saturday, I would like two.

I was on holiday and didn't manage to volunteer before they closed applications. I will be camping the weekend and I have managed to get tickets for Sunday but not Saturday. Does anyone have spare ticket for myself and the other half.

Thanks Steve.

Thanks for the helpful reply Mike.

I am looking forward to working with you on Post 3.

I have a hotel booked, but I think I will do the camping, well, sleeping in the van option.

Walking to sign-on and down to post 3 sounds simple and appealing.

I am arriving on Friday afternoon/evening, is there anywhere particular Marshals gather from a food and drink point of view?

also I hear there is a Goodwood visitor party that starts after the racing finishes, is this worth attending, is there a dress code?

Thanks very much

Andy

The street party is on Saturday night and it is an absolute must-see. If it's anything like last year it will be fantastic.

For GRRC members there is a dress code of jacket, trousers (no jeans) but I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams that marshals will not be allowed to join in, in their kit. If you had a normal (non hi-viz) coat handy I'm 100% certain that would do the job.

It's a huge crowd, you'll just blend. Enjoy.
