Here are your qualifying results;
No one picked Kanaan for the Pole ProRacer was closest to the "Official" Pole fast lap: Actual - 103.627 PR - 103.101 In the "Top Three Rows drewdawg, Penoand Alwaysfirst had 4 pts. each...all others earned 3 pts. each. Believe it or not, Bruno Junquiera was given the official "Slow" spot and "Speed" according to the IRL...no one picked him ProRacer was closest to Bruno's official speed: Actual - 93.392 PR - 92.442 In the Just Miss, only Alwaysfirst picked Servia. for 2 pts, but those who had their selections make the Top Six were Red Bulldog, georgeboi, Thepenguin, ProRacer, mattcat, and Saleen. After quals, here are your standings; 1. ProRacer - 8 pts. 2. Alwaysfirst - 6 pts. 3. drewdawg - 4 pts. (tie) georgeboi - 4 pts. (tie) RedBulldog - 4 pts. (tie) ThePenguin - 4 pts. (tie) peno - 4 pts. (tie) mattcat - 4 pts. (tie) Saleen - 4 pts. 10. drdisque - 3 pts. (tie) Daisy - 3 pts. (tie) OpenWheel - 3 pts. (tie) NAC - 3 pts. (tie) captainCrunch - 3 pts. The newcomers were decent today... Alwaysfirst picked Powergeorgeboi picked Wilson and drewdawg picked Ryan Hunter-reay in their Top Six...nice picks. ProRacer got his advantage by hitting closest to both speeds. Peno, ProRacer and Saleen each picked a driver in the correct qualifying spot. The points may not reflect it, but I think that you all picked well....the unified series is going to throw us for a loop. BTW...Following this one, should I do separate contest for Long beach and Motegi, then add in both sets of points for a "Combined Weekend?" I'm not sure where to go with that one...Please let me know.... Thanks! NOTE: In the original list posted yesterday, I did not include Red Bulldog's total...the list now reflects his results. Wow, from hero to zero in one qualifying session.
Well done Pro Racer, some nice speed picks Tim do you thing Long beach would be worth it? Is there really going to be a decent line up? Last edited by NAC; 5 Apr 2008 at 22:08. |

I don't know....I'm going to play it by ear, but I'm not sure about how I can score it...things like "Milestones" would be tough, because they ran timed races last year, for one...
I might just do Motegi only, but I want to be fair about it...I want "every" contestant to weigh in on it... |

You should do a LB pick 'ems...but perhaps you should run it a little differently since it's a "champ car" race. Maybe toss out some questions and replace them with others.

I have no opinion really. If you do two then I'll enter both. If only one then I'll just enter that. My only problem with Long Beach is whether were going to know entries in enough time to do proper picks. If were only going to find out who's driving what as they go out to qualify then don't bother. If I enter I'll only be doing it for the points. I loved CCWS but if it's just going to be another race where nobody knows who will be running until after they;ve actually run then they really shouldn't bother...and neither should we. Just my opinion. I'm quite happy for other to disagree but I've seen enough farces in the last couple of years to just not give a damn anymore.

As suggestion for Long Beach maybe something as simple as the F1 Pick Em
Pole 1 2 3 4 5 6 Fastest lap (pick name only not times/speed etc) I would enter something like the above Might also be worth adding the appropriate links for anyone (like me) not that up with the play |

Long Beach counts for full Indycar series points, so it should count for full Indycar series pickem's points too. At least that's my take on it.

Mmm, this is not a good round ... but not unexpected, hopefully the race brings me more luck.
And I hope there will be contest for Long Beach too, every format is fine by me. |

I guess you should try both contests.
With the LB one, to replace the last milestone (for ex. St Pete = 100 laps) you can mention "checkered flag" that's easier. We won't have problems with the drivers names, I think they can only enter one race. But everything is fine by me, if you want to have only one contest, then no prob. |

Wow !!! we are going to have some very low numbers this week. A quick look through no one got Rahal for the win or Viso and Bernoldi for the top 5. Also the fastest speeds and average speed should be down for the wet.
What a lottery |

To be honest, I couldn't carry a tune in a bushel basket...
I handle PR for a major orchestra, and we had a world premiere of a new pops program that we created that features Michael Cavanaugh, who starred in the Broadway show "Movin' Out" who was hand-picked by Billy Joel himself to perform his music in that show. We created charts for full orchestra to accompany the many Billy Joel hits and I had both media and photographers here all weekend. At least you know why I can write now....I've been a journalist or PR professional for about 27 years now. |

Here are your final results for St. Pete:
No one had Rahal for the win. In the Top Five, The Penguin, and Peno had 3 pts. each drewdawg, Redbulldog, drdisque OpenWheel Alwaysfirst CaptainCrunch mattcat and saleen had 2 pts. each, ProRacer and Daisy had 1 pts each and all others had zero....only one person picked former CCWS drivers in the top 5, but neither were correct selections in that section (Tough race to call, gang....no one would've picked Viso or Bernoldi...be honest) drewdawg picked Kanaan for the fast lap for 2 pts. Proracer was closest to the speed: Actual - 101.428 Pro - 100.272 No one picked a single milestone correct...they were led by: 25 - Wilson 50- Viso 75 - Rahal Finish - Rahal BTW...on any rain-shortened race or time shortened race, I give the winner the final lap spot since he/she won thus I can score it. mattcat had Roth as 1st out for 2 pts (since he qualified, per my criteria last week on Wheldon and Rahal) and not one had marco, who would have counted as well since he took the grid and wasfirst out. No one had Bernoldi (18th to 5th) or AJ Foyt IV (24th to 11th) as the "Movers" of the race...both would've counted... Saleen picked Birscoe as the "Fall from Grace" - 5th to 23rd Mattcat also was closest to the average speed: Actual - 74.259 Mattcat - 74.259 (Nice Pick!) Final Results: 1. ProRacer - 11 pts. 2. Mattcat - 10 pts. 3. drewdawg - 8 pts. (tie) Alwaysfirst - 8 pts. (tie) Saleen - 8 pts. 6. peno - 7 pts. (tie) Thepenguin - 7 pts. 8. RedBulldog - 6 pts. 9. drdisque - 5 pts. (tie) OpenWheel - 5 pts. (tie) CaptainCrunch - 5 pts. 11. Daisy - 4 pts. (tie) georgeboi - 4 pts. 13. NAC - 3 pts. Many factors played into this...just temember these when Watkins Glen comes around....Ovals may be messy through Kansas... At Indy, they will have two weeks to dial it in to be race ready, so don't count out the "newcomers" there. I'll post the season standings in a minute... |

Here are your Season results after two races:
1. Peno - 30 pts. (1 win) 2. NAC - 26 pts. 3. Proracer - 25 pts. (1 win) (tie) Alwaysfirst - 25 pts. (tie) Daisy - 25 pts. 6. RedBulldog - 24 pts. 7. drewdawg - 21 pts. 8. ThePenguin - 20 pts. 9. Mattcat - 19 pts. 10. captainCrunch - 16 pts. 11 drdisque - 15 pts. (tie) saleen - 15 pts. 13. icemachine - 11 pts. 14. OpenWheel - 5 pts. 15. georgeboi - 4 pts. I'll let you know whether or not I'll do a Long Beach or not....I don't know how busy I'll be that week.... But Motegi will be up for sure.... I personally think that the results would've been different without the rain, but I thought it was a great race....we're in for a fun and wild season.
