Yes it was the Chris Randall one.
Did have a good race with Ray at Snet once, very evenly matched down the Revett Straight, I don't think it was that time. Also had a very memorable 26 lap race with Ray at Pembrey where we changed places for the lead many times, sometimes doing a large part of the lap side by side, and I don't think we touched once |

And that would be Brian or his fast lady Ilsa Cox in the red Pug, she was a fast lady peddler for sure.

I have been racing against Ilsa and Brian since 1988 in the Prod Saloons, she and Brain are great, fair, hard racers...........showing my age now!!!
I was sad to break down on the last lap in the LMA's with a 6 seconds lead at Oulton Park this season and not take the win.........but was so pleased Ilsa Inherited her 1st LMA win in her Seat Cupra Cup Car because of my demise..... |

Hell yeh! Flywheel exploded at about 8000rpm went through bonnet, in to the tarmac, and in to the car. Very luck not to have his feet chopped off, although the oil lines set a light and burnt Rays feet quite badly. Having only owned a driving license for about 3 months yours truly was responsible for driving transporter back fron Snetterton.!

I think it was brother Stan who had the Mk2 was'nt it? Didnt Len always run the Mk 1's. Incidently I heard Stan is not too well so if he reads this, get well soon Stan.

You may be right actually thinking about it. Some impressive looking cars out there was'nt there, no wonder it was such a success, killed IMHO by the inclusion of the Cosworth and M3 after my time as they were strictly excluded which made it worth the while bringing out other marques.

Hi Al
I managed to find my old Mod Prods folder with all of my old paperwork in, plus a couple of pics of my car (which I tried to upload, but that failed for some reason. So please ignore the last post!!). The late Terry Stone was mentioned earlier? I remember us all doing 2 minutes silence just before the race at the Oulton park round that year, out of repect for poor Terry. Very sad. Not sure if you remember, but for the 92 season, the RSCC started something called the "Terry Stone Memorial Cup", where points were awarded for race finish position over grid position. I managed to win it in 92. (The only thing I did win though! lol), with Simon Jackson 2nd and Jamie Champkin 3rd. Did that carry on running after I left? I also found some entry/results sheets for the 92 season too and the guy I was trying to remember with the other Sierra was Andrew Puzio, who ran an XR4i. But from what I can see, he only attended a few meetings. |

Will yes we did and we got Terry's wife to the end of season bash to present the trophy. I carried on till 97 and stood down after I lost my son James in a road accident, somehow racing didnt see appropiate any more and my heart was not in it. I came back into the CTCRC in 2005 but it was very hard at first as James came to every meeting with me and it took some adabting even after an 8 year break. On reflection I am sure he would have wanted me to carry on. |

Yes, that's right Al. Terry's wife Sharon presented my trophy. And you managed to get the great John Cleland there to present some trophies and to do the after dinner speech. It was a good night.
I am so sorry to hear about your Son mate, I had no idea. I don't think anyone would have kept the enthusiasm to carrry on racing under the circumstances. What model is you Iroc BTW? I have an old 3rd gen Firebird on the road which I use for the local Yank car cruises. It's got the standard Chevy 305 V8 and four on the floor. It don't handle too well, but it is entertaining in the wet! |

Yeah I remember the car now. John Cleland was a great bloke to do that and it was a pleasure to share a table with him and he wouldnt take a penny, just a room in the Thistle was all he wanted, good after dinner speaker as well.
BTW the IROC-Z is a 1987 model, I have a tuned 5.7 litre small block chevy in it mounted to a 4 speed Muncie transmission. Its reasonably quick but no match for the M3's and Cossies where its running now. |

Will thats bloody fantastic mate thanks for posting even some good footage of the old Chevy in there in a different suit of clothes, great stuff. What fantastic grids we had eh, and that was only one race we split the classes so there was another and sometimes a third equally big. It stirred so many good memories seeing the Barnes, John Hammersley, Dave Tetley, Ray Webb, and all those others and the in car footage for 92 was really good. I do have some footage somewhere but its on a very old camcorder that may not even work anymore. If you have any more bring it on! BTW the IROC sounds awesome even if I say it myself and even better as I have had to siamese the system which costs a bit of power but only way I could fit the after market torque arm.

No probs Al and thanks for your comments mate. That's pretty much all I have myself, but my mate Dave (who was my race mechanic at the time) might have some more, I will ask him.
BTW, I saw earlier in the thread that you were looking for a way to transfer video to your PC for uploading? I used something that looks identical to the gadget in the e-bay link below. It is very easy to install and use. It just connects between the audio/video output from any video unit really (video recorder, camcorder, DVD player etc) and the USB input of your PC. You can then save the video as a file. The quality isn't brilliant, but it does the job. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Easycap-USB-2-0-for-TV-Video-Audio-DVD-Capture-Adapter_W0QQitemZ290377335236QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_C ards_TW?hash=item439bd681c4 Yeah, I had a great time racing in the old Mod Prods in 92 and as you say, there were plenty of us, so there was never a dull moment out on the track was there! That in-car footage from Cadwell was a bit of a last minute decision at the time really. My mate Dave bravely agreed to bungee his new camcorder to the roll cage of the Sierra! (Cheers Dave!) Your IROC is probably the same shell as my Firebird (which is an 82, the Knight Rider shape). I can't imagine racing it like it is though. I guess you must have to mod the suspension some to get them to hang on. It will be great if you have any video to upload. I will see what my mate Dave has. Has anybody else got any? |

Hey that looks a cool device I think I will have a punt on that, never heard of one before, I should be ablt extract some stuff from the old 9mm tapes as well if the machine still works after so long.
Yes I am a brave man to build and race the IROC thats for sure and the only one in captivity on the long circuits. I have Spohn Performance Suspension all round (hence the siamesed exhaust system to clear the torque tube as the original bolts to the gearbox tailshaft and is banned by SCCA in the US as deemed dangerous) so it will handle a lot better than your road car. Here is a bit of Youtube from the lovely Donington (hopefully not the last time the car will get to perform there) where you can see the car again was having problems. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_Wt6loqqY8 Some more here of it loosing an engine but you can see the power of the thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmOqm2rGenw and when I get that gizzmo I have an excellent race long dice featuring the car on the GP taht also features the only footage of Racer59's Belmont V8 and I have been promising him for ages to post it up, if that gismo works I can although I cannot see how i would het that off a DVD still. Finally here is some incar from Croft to give you a feel, the wheel arch was rubbing as you can hear so I was not giving it large, funny enough if you go to part 2 (youtube chevybigal) where it starts raining hard you will see contary to what you may think it starts pulling away from the lighter cars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqiPQ7NPyJI Hopefully I will have the thing right at last for 2010, we will see. |
