All going in the same direction(mainly)

You should think of somewhere like Snetterton or Bedford for a track day. There is a company out there right now offering Snetterton for cars under £5000 only.

Dont know what one but Snett's is pretty good for beginers and there is plenty of room if things don't go according to plan!!

Price for track day should be around £150 plus fuel for the track car. You'll end up doing about 100miles on the track.

You can also book instruction from the track folk for about £25 for 30 mins.

Good luck.

Bruntingthorpe - cheap - central and you can go off for about 2km before finding anything to hit

Only sprint licence at the moment, which is why a little bit of a blast somewhere will help as a sprint is over too quickly to get the hang of one of these things. I've checked with Ed Moore, Motorsport Events and he doesn't have any suggestions.
Stansted Airport is close but they seem a bit busy at the moment!
A nice wide flat runway for a couple of hours would give her a good grounding to sprint and then race.

How about Elvington, perhaps through the Auto66 club.

F1 tyre tests there, big enough to land the space shuttle, nothing to hit for 4 miles

There's always Curborough http://www.curborough.co.uk/ near Lichfield - although it's not overly huge, it is a sprint course and reasonably priced I think.

Why don;t you try the airfields at North Weald and Debden...both do sprinting so you should be able to hire some time on them for not too much cash... Further afield you can try Turweston airfield (you'll find the numbers on Google) which is next to Silverstone...they charge about £30 an hour to use the run ways/link roads...
