MSV FF1600 19th March 2006
So whos doing it?
What's everyone think:- Is this a toe in the water for a new MSV run MSV FF1600 in 2007 or a MSV COB ?? |

I think the one thing that is certain is that if this event does not get strong competitor support it is likely to put MSVR off running FF1600 in the future. So if you want more events, do your best to get down there.
The people at MSV seem extremely responsive to competitor needs - so if you have any comments or suggestions for this event, get in touch with them. But bear in mind that there is only so much that they can do this year. |

If we want regular FF1600 racing at Brands then everyone has to do it or stop bleating about the lack of races there.
It will be my first kent race in 14 years!! Anyone else coming out for a play? Will ur car be ready John? |

I worry that this is a great idea, poorly considered.
Like last years MSV championship, the details have come out too late, people have already committed to other championships and the "will they" / "won't they run a Brands race" question wasn't answered till too late. Had MSV announced this much earlier I recon they'd stand a better chance of a great turnout. As it is I doubt it'll be that strong, especially as the main championships kick off so close to it. Maybe MSV can get to grips with the fundamentals. . .FF1600 wants to race at Brands, however if MSV WANTS US to race at Brands they have to give us viable options at the time people are deciding where to race, not a month after! I hope it is well supported but I bet I'm not the only one who can't afford to bend my car when my own championship kicks off the weekend after. . .big shame. . . |

The fact that they have listened to competitor demand and put on a race at all is positive. The 'need' for them to put one on has only arisen since the CFF (MS) calendar came out with the subsequent disappointment about the lack of Brands dates. Once they decided they wanted to run a race, there was of course a very limited number of opportunities to do that - unfortunately, the one date available was early and hence the quite short notice.
Believe me, Stuart Pringle is doing a lot of legwork on FF1600 behind the scenes. |

In addition to that Ian the MSVR has only just been approved (I believe) hence the lateness of the calender. Next year should be a lot better and dates announced a lot sooner.

Nice gesture from the MSV but like the changes to last years MSV championship it was anounced too late, which is a shame but other commitments such as work, weddings (other peoples I hasten to add!), holidays means that I can't fit it in.

Tim, if you haven't already done so perhaps you could drop a note to Stuart Pringle at MSV telling him that you would have liked to support the event but are unable to on this occasion.
Anyone who is in a similar position to Tim would be advised to do the same - that way MSV can see what the genuine level of support for FF1600 at Brands is. If you prefer, email me via 10-Tenths or the website and we will pass on your comments. |

Chaps, to make things easier for next year, may I suggest you drop David Scott a note at MSV Brands Hatch and offer your constructive criticism for next years calender? I'm sure he would take it all on board and with any luck everyone would be more content with the results?

Stephen, Stuart Pringle is a much better bet than David Scott for calendar and competitor issues - I have been in contact with him quite a bit in recent days.
Bear in mind that anything MSV choose to do in 2007 will be strongly influenced by what happens in 2006, and that of course MSVR don't have a permit to run a FF1600 championship in 2006. |

Fair enough, you have a far greater knowledge in these matters than me. Thanks for the heads up Ian

RayFF, I have PMed you - if anyone else would like to contact Stuart, please PM me for his address. Alternatively, I can pass on any comments.
There seems to be a reasonable amount of interest in the event at this stage. |

Good to see this event, makes up for the postponement of the Golden Helmet, and means it's only about 5 weeks to my first actual race of the year! I'll be there, in some sort of photography capacity I guess.

I will do my best to race at this event. The new car is moments away from being ready (although I've been saying this for six weeks now!!) If the shake-down test goes well then I'll race - but carefully! My last two visits to Brands have ended with a lot of damage.
