Ease up, mate. I think a Radisich/Johnson and Ritter/Jones team will be bloody quick....

He has shown that he can still pull his finger out when he needs to (with some quick times in the wet in Tratt's car in recent years).

But it is interesting... are there any better co-drivers out there?

Also, isn't it interesting that just about every team is announcing their enduro line up before the season has even started (unlike most seasons in the past), and giving them lots of testing miles during the year. It just goes to show how important co-drivers are these days, long gone are the days of a once a year hired gun.

I think the rest of the grid paid to have AJ driving for DJR. There is no way on this earth he is up to the job.

AJ to drive for DJR

That's right folks, to anyone who didn't catch the broadcast today Alan Jones announced he'll be driving in the enduros for DJR this year which i for one am very happy about. I would love to see our F1 champ get a Bathurst win as he's rather short on trophies at the moment
SO, what do the rest of you think ?

Good news for any AJ fans out there I suppose.

And a Bathurst victory would be icing on the cake to a long career.

Who will he be partnering though - Radisich or Johnson?

A.J. winning Bathurst? You must be still watching the ice skating from Salt Lake City! Thats about the only way he'll get to win. I pitty the one the draws the short straw at DJR, cause I bet neither Paul or Jnr will be putting up their hand.

I'd say that they would probably put AJ with Ritter, unless Radisich and Johnson are close on points

Every car that AJ gets into gets broken mechanically - usually in the gearbox - he is a handicap to anyone using him - too hard on the equipment and then blames everyone else.

Crash - got any stats on how many races he has actually finished? Particularly long distance events.

Hrmmm, good point. Out of the 20 V8 enduros he has entered, he has only finished 6 of them.

I rest my case. The only way AJ would win would be if he pushed his car over the line! Hold on a minute, I think that has already be tried, a kiwi trying out for MR Universe.

Would AJ push a car over the line?

I doubt it, instead of having a go, he's be more likely to have a ***** about not being able to push the car over the line

Still you never know... who would you put in your car with the available drivers out there?

Aj push, he would be lucky to get his fat ar$e out of the car.
i'm a DJ fan but i'm not happy about this one. Hrt should have signed AJ and put him with Skaife, they could have whinged to each other

Well

he might have the equipment to handle it this time

I agree with all you guys have said above and was amazed myself when I heard the announcement. That being said, where's the respect fella's?

He's was WDC in 1980.

Thats gotta be a reason top cut him a little slack

How long do you allow someone (anyone) to rest on the laurels of something they did TWENTY years ago?

He may have the equipment this time but remeber, the ewquipment he is breaking - the gearbox almost EVERY single time - is not something built specifically by the teams. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that they all use the same gearbox - make/brand, model etc.

If it can be broken, AJ will find a way. You may have guessed - not a big fan of someone who continually breaks cars and tries to blames others for his own failings)

You bet it's good news! Best thing since sliced bread. Actually, I'd love to see Darrel Eastlake take up the other seat at HRT, that'd be EVEN better.

AJ on tv, very overweight..how much hp has djr cars got. they wiil need it and more.Yes aj does have a tendency to blame equipment. Yes he was wdc 22years ago. We are talking about year 2002 not 1980.

Fair enough fellas, your all welcome to state your opinions and I welcome them. Call it misguided if you will, but I have always admired him due to the fact he has driven and succeeded at the highest level, regardless of how long ago he achieved it.All power to you my fat lil buddy, go kick some Holden ass AJ!

Good luck to AJ! I admire him for what he has done and would love to see him do well. As a commentator, he annoys me, but I admire him for his driving success.

Let's not forget - he probably should have one Bathurst at least once, except his car burst into flames.

That could be a little premiture though, at that stage there was still a little of a way to go. I'm not sure how AJ will go, but theres onl 1 way to find out and thats in August.
