Caterham Graduates - passenger rides
Caterham Graduates are holding their pre-season trackday on Sunday 7th March at Rockingham. If any marshals would like to come along for passenger rides, drop me a line at chairman@graduates.org.uk
As seems to be the tradition 'round here, here's our provisional calendar: 17/18th April Pembrey (Double Header) 15/16th May Croft (Double Header) 30/31st May Snetterton 27th June Mallory Park 10/11th July Croix-en-Ternois, France (Double Header) 24th July Oulton Park 14/15th August Knockhill (Double Header) 28/29th August Rockingham 18th September Silverstone And maybe a round at a Caterham Festival in October...? |

What a nice idea. But we need to make sure that none of the marshals get the bug and take up driving.
Pity that I shan't be able to take up your kind offer. Jim |

Could a 6'5" marshal such as I actually fit inside the roll cage of a Caterham? Perhaps the G Force would squeeze me into the seat after the fist lap?
Thanks for the offer - I should be able to get there. |

I'd love a passenger ride but I won't be able to come to Rockinghorse on that day - any chance of one later in the season perhaps at Three Sisters on Friday, 6 August for Captain Coco's Charity Track Day?
As it's a provisional calendar will there be any revisions and you'll be making a trip to Anglesey this year? |

I'll be training at Prescott that day, but many thanks for the offer. Maybe next year?

Graeme, what a wonderful gesture! Unfortunately I won't be able to make it though but thanks anyway. Have you managed to sort out anything for Donington?

Graeme, what a fabulous offer and one that I am sure many marshals will be extremely happy to take up. Once again the Caterham racing teams have shown their concern and appreciation of the marshals, maybe that's one of the reasons we enjoy your meetings so much. Of course it could be the excellent racing as well!

Lots of comments/questions! 6'5" might be on the tight size for a Seven - I'll check if anyone is coming who has a rollbar, rather than a rollcage - it should be possible like that. It would be good to be able to do rides at race meetings at lunch - I'll ask Dale if it might be possible at Croix. I think our provisional calendar is fairly fixed, so no Anglesey this year ; if I get along to Three Sisters, you're more than welcome to a ride. I've rather given in on getting a Grads race at Donington this season, but will be buying a few grids off someone for 2005.

The Grads trackday is next Sunday; drop me a mail if you'd like to come along for a passenger ride.

See you there Graeme, I hear that the numbers testing are in excess of 100+. It could be an "entertaining" day.

A huge thankyou.
May I say a HUGE thankyou to the Caterham drivers who looked after us today at their Rockingham track day, especially, and in no particular order, my personal thanks to Graeme, Jeff, Dan, Sheila and Nick who acted as our unofficial hosts. Its might be a good job if Mark and I subdue our insatiable gluttony for track time after we happened to be passengers on three cars that broke and encouraged two drivers to almost run out of fuel.
My understanding of what a driver has to contend with on track and the realisation of how little time and where we are visible to them in a sector has improved tremendously. May this interchange of experiences between ourselves continue and improve as its invaluable knowledge. Again a sincere and from the heart thankyou. |

Thanks to all caterham drivers, what an experience, still grinning from it.
Esp thanks to the driver who tried so hard we blew the engine, and the super grad drivers who have embosed their seat belts on my chest. Very good brakes I think I saw some of the flag points (oops) def not all. But the view from a car at speed was totally different from walking the track esp blind corners and apexes Time to start saving.... I want a caterham and to race it... |

No problem - glad you enjoyed it - we'll have to do it again sometime (but unfortunately not at Croix - BARC say there are insurance issues, which are even worse on the continent). Hope you all got enough time out on track; organisation never seems my strong point, despite being chairman of the club...
