formula1 test drivers...

Well i thought that as the f1 teams have all nearly signed-up their race seats, it would be good to see what you all think on who will test for teams such as BAR, Jordan,Williams, Jag etc... the test drivers are an important part of f1's future!!

The teams that sign up for the limited testing and the extra running on Fridays would probably not need a dedicated test driver.

Parklife, I fear that may not come to fruition. Minardi are in for sure, and maybe Jordan. Everything will depend on Sauber coming to the party.

And with the F12002 engine, gearbox and rear end, how much testing do they need?

I believe the teams that sign up for friday testing will be allowed to run their test driver in a third car on friday.
I'm wondering if Salo will end up testing for Renault.

Ferrari would love to get extra developmental information on each track - I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pushed Sauber into doing it...

You can not race a modern hi-tech F1 car without at least 10,000 kms testing experience.

One the teams don't like to risk it, and two it's far better for a young upcoming driver to acclimatise to F1 it's Hi G force, and all it's gizmo's.

So we need testing in my view, if only for driver development.

Minardi would never have let Ant Davidson drive in Hungry without his 10,000km + test experiences...in fact a driver without F1 experience couldn't have qualified it within the 107% rule at Hungry...fact!

I very much doubt Kimi Raikonnen or Jenson Button had tht much experience.

I don't even think they had that amount of collective mileage in racing cars put together before they both arrived in F1.

When Raikonnen went to Melbourne first time round it was the furthest he'd ever travelled, in fact the only time he'd been long-haul at all!
