That for sure, but aside this it's not WEC michelin > IMSA michelin...
the big difference is that spa is an uncharted place for corvette racing since they never ran before in WEC, while AF corse and porsche team have tons of data about tires behaviour they know and use from years in spa and other WEC circuits.

oreca 07 min. cornering speed was 185km/h
to notice also that toyota driver had to full lift off throttle before reaching the apex after braking, oreca driver was able to brake in the middle of the corner and push throttle soon after

8 shouldn't have to. Especially if it takes it easy.

unlike #7, #8 had an easy race without issues, as predicted they don't need to a 7th refuel .... eot/bop is a bit broken because alpine has about 7m shorter stints and needs to refuel one more time in a 6h race, it basically means toyota having a virtual 2m advantage before the very start of the race.
EDITED: looking better on data, alpine compensates somehow with shorter refuels,
alpine - 7 refuel - 7m53s overall time spent on pit
toyota #8 - 6 refuel - 7m18s overall time spent on pit

it's not like 2m, but toyota keeps a marginal advantage about pit stops

On commentary there was talk of a car which couldn't fit a bigger tank in it and it couldn't get to it's allowed limit. I didn't hear it all. Who was that, did I hear it correctly?

I am pretty sure they said that about the Alpine. I dont know if it is allowed more fuel than last year?

don't know, I can't find any eot or bop document with alpine fuel tank size... I just have a theory of mine, last year R13 had the gibson revving to >9000rpm to get >700hp and according to eot sheets the car had to have a 75L fuel tank at least, because at example at le mans they had 55.5kg a stint, meaning 55.5 / 0.75 = 74L.
For this race, alpine gibson engine has 600hp and according to hud telemetry, it revs just a bit higher than 8000rpm... I just think they kept the same 75L fuel tank but the stint lenght increased from about 40m to 46-47m because engine revs lower.

It was the Alpine. The BoP says they can have more fuel than fits in the tank.

Thought it must be, couldn't really be a GT or LMP2 car. Thought I'd check before claiming it was a fact on the internet.

A smaller tank than allowed, that is far from ideal.

Do they have plans to fix this?

Surely not possible? If Hypercars have to be homologated for 5 years they would presumably object to that sort of change.

I'm going to guess they can change it, but it just takes a bit of work due to the location. Otherwise they surely wouldn't put themselves at such a disadvantage all year.

Yeah, it sounded like it's a structural issue with the car and the tank capacity in total. Doubt they would have stuck with the smaller track if they could actually fit the regs sized tank, it didn't sound like it was the old volume reducing balls but rather that actual physical limit. Which sucks because it seems like that's a big thing holding them back from really challenging the Toyotas, and will be a big problem come LM and extra stops adding up.
