E36ST should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Lady Wigram Trophy Meeting, Ruapuna

A small selection of photos here of the recent Wigram Revival meeting in Christchurch NZ last week of October.

Possibly of note is the recently established 'Historic Touring Car' Class, given some of the discussion surrounding the desire for similar meetings to be run in other parts of the world.

This class is for genuine or very close replica Group A cars, Supertourers and similar.

All up we had 17 entries, with more on the cards for the Southern Festival of Speed meetings at Ruapuna, Levels and Teretonga this February.

The entries included:

Walksinshaw Jaguar XJS replica
Group A RS500 Sierra
Two E36 Suprtourers ex Italian Supertourismo & then Paul Morris / Tony Longhurst.
A super quick French Group A E30 M3.
3 other Group A BMW M3's, including a Wellington Street Race winner.
ex Longhurst Group A BMW 323i.
ex Rouse BTCC Carina
ex Jim Richards Group A BMW 635
Zakspeed Escort
BMW E36 NZ Touring Car
Toyota Carina NZ Touring Car
Bastos Rover Group A.
Group A BMW 325i replica
BMW E36 Supertourer ex German STW

Most of all it was a fantastic weekend of racing amongst a great bunch of guys. A couple of the drivers of the faster machinery (such as Stephen Grellet in the french M3 and Brett Stevens in the RS500) were happy to not always be driving ten tenths thereby allowing the rest of us to bunch up. One of the races saw the lead changing 6 times, which not only made it interesting for us other drivers but also hugely entertaining the crowd. And being as it was just chocolate fish up for grabs, the driving was clean and non-contact.

Anyone else with a Group A, Supertourer or 70's production car wanting to join in, let us know

Always good to read the above! Some great looking cars there- thanks for the link. Would like to see a UK organiser put on a race for similar mix of cars, anything from Gp2 through to Group A especially. Sure JT will appreciate the black BMW '6'

The first few pics show anything from Jag Mk2, 911, Escort and BMW 3 series together. What was spec of those cars?

And as always, love the specials!

I've seen that E36 BMW supertourer out at Ruapuna before. It's a pretty cool car. Always liked the E36 BMW and it's associated super tourers from those years. Would like to drive one someday on track.
