Is that a 5 hour VW Beetle race? That Fun Cup? They'll have time to do a crossword between the chicanes.

Fun Cup races are pretty good to be honest, probably the series with the most paid pro-drivers outside of BTCC and BGT.
They used to have some cars running with passengers at their 25 hour race at Spa. |

4pm local start time too compared to 2.30pm last year.
I think it was essentially 11 hours of full dark last year. Would it be an hour or so less in mid-August? |

It will probably not make much difference the start time. Circumstances made it start earlier last year, but there should not be too much difference in daylight/nighttime in August compared to June. Probably only a hour more nighttime at best?

It will be approximately the same night duration on April 21th. Some ten minutes more night than in Britain, considering the latitude.

Im absolutely thrilled to hear the fun cup news, we are one of the few in the UK that have an evo3 fun cup which is the spec they use in the rest of Europe so hopefully we can over and race
It’s a bit of a dream to race at Le Mans and this may be it! |

It is interesting news about the Fun Cup, should be quite entertaining, we'll see how it goes. There are going to be some very lucky people competing in that

I shared a garage with a fun cup car once when testing at Donington. It did indeed look fun. |

Will be funny to see them peak out their top speed down the straights .
Hopefully the engines can last the stress. |

I dont think they'll have time for crossword because I do remember that Peugeot, with 505 turbo and later 309 turbo, then Porsche with 944 T Cup were invited as support race. Thrill and fun. From memory, the best recorded speeds in the Mulsanne straight (les Hunaudières pour nous) were respectively 253 (me), 269 and 304 kmh. Without chicanes, door to door, it was impressive not mentioning the draft game. Happy for Joe he can make it, the bottle does not matter as much as the drunkenness! |

Full season french Fun Cup entries are being prioritised and rightly so, don’t have any arguments with that, just depends how many they let on the grid for Le Mans, Spa 25 hour have had 120 cars in recent years and it’s a shorter length but who knows with the ACO
Fingers crossed anyway |

It will be fine, no worry. No doubt you will keep the marshals busy, you'll see that the straight is far from "un long fleuve tranquille"! I remember the old narrow version could host 4,5 cars abreast… Yes, I know, if you belong to the 0,5 category, things can get slightly complicated!
Fingers crossed! |

Crikey. Five full days of track activity is a bit more than I expected.
Combine that with not knowing whether us orange lot will have to pay £££ for mandatory testing on the way out and the very real possibility of two weeks at Premier Inn's Pleasure on return... might see a reduction in the number of overseas attendees for the second year running. Shame really, it was looking like a possibility but every time it gets closer something else pushes it further away! |

That will be the biggest risk, for marshals and spectators. However I can't see them having the capacity to quarantine at short notice everyone returning from anywhere within driving distance of a ferry. It would have to be 'quarantine at home' instead, which would still be out of the question for anyone who has to leave the house to work.

Monaco F1 Grand Prix will be held with spectators....50% of the grandstands, with every second seat empty......
It is great news! I do hope to see the race in August with my fresh vaccinated eyes (first jab received, second scheduled to 27.04) on site |
