I see detached rear wing endplates Loving the new livery, definitely stands out! Look at those 'feet' on the front splitter.

The car actually shown to the media at Paul Ricard already exhibits differently-shaped front fenders and headlights compared to the other shots posted above, including a wholly different front-end:

(source: @Toyota_Hybrid)

IMHO, the car looks much better with these front fenders, even though the headlights are quite "bulbous".

No adjustable front wing element ?

As to the hole on the side of the right-rear fender, this is definitely the air-jack connector:

The front-end they have fitted at Ricard already looks different than the studio shots:

Possibly the low-drag configuration?

Hole in side of car def for air jack mechanism--exhaust located as basically on the TS030. My question is where are the rear brake ducts? They're not in the leading edges of the rear fenders.

There's twitter photos of the car with a different nose on it with front fenders that look much like the Rebellion Lola, but without the twin dive planes and dished dive plane mountings.

Why can't they make good looking headlights? Surely it could be achieved without compromising functionality.

You'd think that it would be the high downforce nose as the TS030 had a similar (but less pronounced) front fender shape in sprint races last year, but it does appear that you might be right. The small slot that feeds air to the front diffuser/wing is closed off in the newer photos compared to the press set.

Already two iterations of the car. Wonder if the headlights will change or if this is final.

The Ricard nose is for the photoshoot they are doing at the track according to their twitter, so perhaps that is just a nose for a shoot which hides their front aero solution?

Toyota went with a closed off nose last year to reduce drag by not having air go though the nose and over the front diffuser (biggest areo change from 2012-2013).

The second nose variant does have that area closed off, while the initial press photos have a slot between the splitter part of the diffuser and the valiance bodywork.

The "shorty" nose might be the sprint package based on that.

Does this suggest that Toyota have not made use of the option to use any adjustable front-wing element ?

In the initial press photos (the ones that have the "tucked in"/"cut off" AKA blunt front fenders), there's a slot between the splitter section of the front diffuser, and the "valiance" bodywork.

We won't know for sure until the nose is pulled off the TS040 and someone looks at the back of it or underside of it.

However, you'd need a pretty open nose (like all versions of the Audi R18 (even more so the 2014 R18 as it was designed with it) and the Porsche 919) to make full use of the wing-type diffuser. The "sprint" TS040 only has a fairly tiny slot gap in that area.

I highly doubt this. It's the easiest way of getting a easily adjustable front downforce package without to much drag tradeoff. Of course we won't know for sure until we see under/in the new nose.

From the past this solution was used on low speed tracks and the edgy version front was used at lemans and on spa on some cars to test how effective it is.

Having 2 more effective fronts for high and low speed tracks is better than adjustable front wing element actually as the demand for hidh speed vs grip version can be better in this way than adjusting the wing.

The more upright front end is growing on me (if it is indeed the final configuration), and the rest of the car is spectacular. I'm extremely excited about WEC this year!!!

So Toyota claim that the ICE alone develops a power of the order of 520 HP, i.e. approximately 390 kW. That is a bit less than the theoretical peak power output derivable from the current Appendix B Figures assuming a target efficiency of 220 g/kWh:
87.9 * 1000 / 220 = approximately 400 kW

Possible explanations:
1. the hypothesis of efficiency for petrol has been revised (225 g/kWh, i.e. 40.5% fuel efficiency, compared to 41.37%)
2. the power output quoted by Toyota takes into account a certain safety margin compared to the maximum allowable fuel flow rate (e.g. 2%)
3. Toyota are not disclosing the actual engine power figure.

2. seems to be a reasonable explanation as a 2% safety margin would be more consistent with the quoted power figure:
87.9 * 0.98 * 1000 / 220 = 87 = approx. 390 kW

The "closed" version being shown at Paul Ricard pretty much excludes the use of any adjustable front-wing element. I suspect this "version" is being shown to the media with a view to still hide some key aero developments at the front end.

I am looking forward to seeing the actual version that will be track tested starting from tomorrow.

1000 hp. OK, this is an impressive big round number for the media. But what torque and for how many seconds ?

Regarding brake ducts, with a powerful KERS system on both axles presumably actual braking loads are much reduced, so perhaps disc cooling is less of an issue than previously.

Correct. It aids in braking so they will be phenomanal on that front. Last year the rear brakes never glew red because of them harvesting energy.

As for the "520hp", thats just a number the team put out there. Kinda like Audi suggesting they were at 510hp last year or whatever fib they wanted you to buy Anyway they claim their hybrid is worth 5-10 seconds at LeMans!

Amazing how Toyota managed to put down 18k of testing in complete secrecy as well. Not a single spy shot emerged.
