Testing times mean nothing for regular Fans like us... (only for team engineers mean something), we don't know how does new setups work, how many changes they make lap by lap, tyre compounds used, etc... I remember last year, Jag and BAR were flying when testing... |

Testing means nothing - it's what happens on the race day - look at last year Jaguar on some occasitions came top on some of the test days - but failed in the race.
Lets just wait an see until the lights go out on the first race. Then we will RIP THEM TO BITS! |

TOYOTA are not Forti, nor are they even Lola. They will get it right. Their success at every level they have raced is impressive. They have assembled a good set of players. They have avoided hubris up to now and they have two very competent drivers. It may take awhile, but they will get there. The money is there and the talent is in place.
On the basis of today's times, DC set his time in the dry, and then the rains came. McNish may have been taking it easy to bed the car in. Be patient. |

The times aren't really comparable when there's rain to take into account, and with testing it's impossible for us to say what kind of setup anyone is using on their car. It's way too early to make a judgement on McNish or Toyota.

In few words..... Worry about what? It's like being threatened by Trulli's saturdays or Irvine's Fridays.
It's just the second day and for F1 fans this data is very useless, only the team can manage real data about each single piece they were testing and until we know what were they testing then we can arrive to real and understandable facts which can build ideas and bring us conclusions. You guys amaze me at times...Yes, McNish was 6 seconds off the pace set by Coulthard, but he still set the 5th quickest time of the day according to the time sheets you posted.
I don't understand the worries if the rest of the field were also way off, you don't mention Irvine being 16th anywhere! |

To add to EERO's post, I think that Toyota have a very capable management team. In fact, I don't remember any other team entering F1 with such a methodical pre-race program. |

BAR really could have done with taking a year out to figure what exactly it was they were doing - that would really have tested JV's commitment!
You can't take a blind bit of notice of any Formula One activity until qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix Prost were going to win races this time last year, remember!? |

These times mean nothing. the only time that we'll know who's really competitive is Saturday afternoon at Melbourne.
