Where does PLM fit into the peaking order of Sport Car Races?
Well all no that the Le Mans 24 hours is the greatest sportscar race in the world, but which comes next Sebring or PLM, I am not sure, but I would say Sebring as it is nice warm for Le Mans, then rank PLM a very close 3rd, with 4th an a long way behind Daytona 24hrs.......

LM, Sebring, PLM way back Daytona. If there is an/some big 1000K races in Europe (ALMS/FIA GT/FIA SCC all able to race) at Silverstone and Nurburgring these could overtake Daytona.

What makes a race like the PLM important is that you get a free pass to LeMans qualifying if you win. That makes it important for the teams, but the race does not have a true heritage yet, like Sebring or the 1000K at the Nurburgring. As they continue to have the PLM it will get more recognition.

It's getting to be THE gathering place though, for people who want to see racing and meet racing people. Unlike Sebring which is mainly the redneck spring break.
It'll be on my schedule for next year for sure. |

KC on that score. Does anyone else get Audis LMP900 place (because they already had one and that team/car isn't going next year?)
IIRC it is for an actual race place (as pre-qual is just a test now) and you have to enter the same car (or a development of). Who will take up their place? 675: Banana Joe's Lola EX257-MG GTS: Factory Chevrolet Corvette C5R GT: Alex Job Racing's Porsche 996 GT3 I presume all these three will, especially GTS and GT. On the actual thread topic I would rank the major races
Le Mans Sebring PLM (Road Atlanta! ) Daytona (I did enjoy listening to Daytona this year - it still has something despite some of the obvious critisms. The track isn't amazing though). I agree with JAG, we could do with another enduro in Europe. Perhaps a decent Monza 1000 again. The Spa and Nurburgring 24 hours are good, but I am ignoring these to make my thought processes easier. Just chosing races that have 'protptypes' in a random way). It's also a shame we don't have a decent Suzuka 1000 either. |

Yeah, but that's before the Florida Mafia decided they knew better than the ACO or the FIA, and completely isolated themselves from the rest of the endurance racing world.
