British Formula Ford: Mygale or Ray
Hello everyone,
I may be entering the British Formula Ford Championship in 2009 and need to make a decision soon as to which chassis to use. I have heard varying reports about both and have heard that with a competitive driver, the Ray would come into its own. Does anyone have any advise to offer as I do not want to make the wrong decision. Do I base this on my driving style, the fact that the Mygale is a consistent winning chassis or just test both and see which one suits me? Cheers |

You basically need to go to Donington Park in a few weeks, and talk to teams and drivers. At the moment the Mygale is the domninant chassis, however Van Diemen has come on strong in the last couple of races.

Yes I plan to do that. I think there is usually an event at Silverstone where all the potential teams go to and you can have a go in their cars!!!
Maybe that wil be an option................ |

I would say in your best bet it to go and meet all the manufacturers and get them to introduce you to the teams they recomm. I would say the support you get from the factory is equally important to the chassis choice.

Is there anyone amongst you that has driven both a mygale and a ray manufactured after 2006, and if so which one would you recommend in terms of how easy/difficult they are to drive.
And also which one is easiest to set up. grts |

Could do worse than speak to Scott Malvern. He worked for Jamun as Blanchards race mechanic last year so knows the Mygale very well. He then had two successful tests in the car at Brands at the end of the season. He is now racing for CDR in the Webcon UK National FF1600 championship in a Ray GR08/9 and is leading with 2 wins and 2 second paces from 4 rounds.
