Peugeot 908 for '09

Michel Barge said that Peugeots Sport program will probably be announced at the IRC Monte Carlo Rally in January;
Quote:
A little more seriously, Michel Barge has confirmed that the sports program of Peugeot Sport for 2009 will probably be presented at the next rally in Monte Carlo this year is that private WRC. However, the Monte will host the IRC and therefore the 207 Super 2000 hence the choice of this event. It will therefore wait until around January 20 to satisfy our curiosity since the rally takes place from 21 to 24.

I Think That the AUDI R15 will be very good but "LAMY and Sarrazin"
will win the 2009 24h Le Mans.
Audi is a new car, and Peugeot will not do the same mistakes.
The 2009 car will be an evolution from the 2008 but more relayable

Some good news to look forward. For sure we know Sebring 2009 we will see Peugeot. If Audi not coming to LMS i would like to see the hybrid run a few races this is their chance even though there is no competition.

Presently Peugeot is already cutting back on jobs etc so i would how much of the 2009 budget they allocate to their motorsports program.

We can seriously speculate about arrival of Anthony Davidson in the team too...

We also can more and more speculate Jacques Villeneuve and Ricardo Zonta won't be there anymore...

That let us with another unknown driver for '09 Le Mans...

-Sarrazin
-Lamy
-Gené ??
-Minassian
-Davidson ??
-Klien
-Wurz ??
-Montagny
- ????

NOt sure if Montagny would be an automatic Pug driver - depends if Acura need him for a trip over the pond ?

Davidson is a brilliant addition though! Surprised he has not surfaced in an Acura tbh given his Honda connections.........missed opportunity there i think!!

Jacques Villeneuve just signed for Durango Corse in the Speedcar Series. So I guess he is - thankfully - off the endurancemarket.

He simply didnt do the business.

Will the HY have the 3.7L V8 engine this year to work out the kinks for 10' and beyond? Or will it retain the current engine for now?

Not at Le Mans he didnt. Not to flame any JV fans in any way, but he was short stinted every time he had to push. The laptimes didnt go his way.

No one was good in a wet stint in a Peugeot full stop.

Is there somewhere that I can find lap times during the race broken down by who was driving the car? I searched briefly but couldn't find anything.

there was an article on dsc about it ..

but you need to be a subscriber
hope the editor won't mind
average laptime during a stint:
Montagny: 3m22.9
Villeneuve: 3m26.3

As I am a subscriber, I was able to read the whole article!

Interesting statistics there, I guess you can't argue with hard facts. You're right, Aslak, his laps times were pretty far off of those of his team-mates.

I wonder how substantially he'd improve given more time to become acclimated to the car, though. I think JV is a good commodity; he's pretty quick (despite the numbers from LM, in my opinion) and very decisive / aggressive. Personally, I hope they hang on to him and give him some more time to learn the car.

Interesting and a really good find, but not really surprising.

To all fairness, the laptimes doesnt show anything about the track, damp or dry. But I do remember that JV only ran what he needed.

i still don't think he did as bad as some people think
3 seconds is about the gap between the audi drivers too
"slowest" was Pirro .. and he won LeMans how many times ??

Indeed... remembering watching JV drove one of the double stints at midnight and it was heavily raining. Although his laptimes slowed a little bit down he rather did a good and was able to keep the PUG on the track...

Wasn't JV in the car the same time as TK was (in the Audi) at night in the rain (when TK was lapping something like 10 seconds a lap faster)?

Don't remember who was driving the Audi while JV was on the track... but it was clear from the very beginning of the race that the PUG's would lost much ground when the rain would come.

Not to stir things, but yeah it was TK who was in the R10. And it was at that moment he really won the race. JV was nowhere these times..

However; please remember that the 908 didnt really have any grip in the rain.
