I thought Bale was Welsh. He certainly sounded it when interviewed on Five Live this morning.

Another tenuous Le Mans link - on my way into Brussels this morning I was passed by a Belgian-reg Mercedes with the number 1-DUD-917.

Wonder if he was a disillusioned racer??

Just back from film
Bale superb and the midland ascent worked.
The film works as a piece of entertainment.
Baubles photos are superb as obviously not going to make it as a film critic!
Kermode and his Friday afternoon slot is Very safe!

Whilst we're in 'Mark Kermode mode'- Bale played a great part as the lead in the film 'Vice' about Dick Cheney. Worth a watch.

Don’t think Christian Bale has a lot to be fussed over.
Most of world thinks he’s a super actor
Seem to remember he won all the prizes for the Cheney role

I'd forgotten it was he who played Cheney. A good film and good performance.

I don't recall seeing it advertised over here. I saw it in the US.

Cheney was none to pleased with Bale's portrayal and referred to him as a 'Dick'.

So I am not alone.

I don't know whether Bale is a good actor or bad one and I wouldn't recognise him even if he hit me with a GT40 but one thing for certain is I bet he doesn't drive round in a decrepit Corsa or live in Luton. I think you have to take these films for what they are which is entertainment not a documentary

I thought Le Mans 66 was a good piece of entertainment and that the characters were pretty well portrayed. I’m sure there are lots of inaccuracies, but it’s not a factually correct documentary.

Did anyone else spot the Brit who gained notoriety for being supposedly anonymous ?

Are you referring to Eric Broadley who designed the Lola Aston that was the basis of GT 40 and has been pushed back in history with the perceived Ford input.

The Lola Aston was a few years after the GT40. It was the Lola Mk6 GT which formed the basis. I think the guy being referred to was the bespectacled bloke - was his surname Lunn?
