Aren’t they all uninteresting races?
That could be the title of the thread. |

Yup, because Lewis was so much faster on the preferred race tires than Valteri was today. Or did you not watch any part of practice and the first 2 rounds of quali?

Disappointing that Russell has a five place grid penalty, but those are the rules. But it seems Williams can't catch a break atm

People used to same the same with Rosberg vs Lewis. Nico was clearly not on Lewis level. And then he dug really deep and pulled out a World freaking Championship.
Bottas has managed some excellent performances too. He can do it. It's whether or not he can dig as deep as Nico did. |

Well let us hope Valteri can find something and make a race of it, if he can beat Lewis then there is hope for the championship, if not i fear interest will slowly ebb away and F1 will suffer.

Because F1 is not a real sport, at least not in the eyes of many.
"They just drive cars around the track!" |

And footballers just kick a ball around a field. Tennis players just hit a ball back and forth. Darts players just throw little missiles at a board. Rugby players just carry an egg about. Runners, literally, just run.
Every sport sounds stupid and non-sport like when you deliberately dumb it down into simple language. |

Unfortunately all sports have to live in the real world these days, if they are not entertaining they do not attract audiences, if they do not do that they do not get sponsors and gate money and if they do not do that they they slowly die. Domination of a sport by one person/car/team etc is ok short term but never good long term.

I think this is also why F1 in the past had looked so interesting, because you could actually see the drivers struggling inside their cars while the cars themselves seemed to be alive, bucking, oversteer, understeer, powerslides, etc. Plus the enormous disparity between one team and the rest doesn't help either. In other sports it's usually because one athlete/team found a way to use PED's that are not yet traceable. But that's another discussion. |

Pretty sure sponsors gravitate towards the dominant athletes.
Long term i suspect more people watch the sport because they once loved, admired, followed that person who dominated. For me i cant saw i watch sports because everybody was average. |

Hulkenberg is out of the race before it has started. I missed the explanation.

Couldn't start the car, but other than that, I don't know.

Sky just brushed through it without mentioning why.
Edit: Couldn't start the car. Seems fishy. |

?
They were talking about it a lot. Cut away from a piece about the grid with Button and Brundle. They told us it wouldn't start properly, but not the reason why. But as the team probably don't know yet that is fair. |
