TomS should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Rotax RM1

Ive seen quite a lot about this...autosport show and a few things in karting magazine but still dont quite understand what its all about.

It says how it has a gearbox with 2 gears? How does this work? Is the 1st gear just for starting?

Is it going to be replacing Rotax Max classes or just another karting class?

How quick are they?

When are they goign to start racing here in the UK because the only one i have seen is at the Autosport Show however in Karting Magazine it talks about how they were used in the Rotax finals in Lanzarote

They're two speed just for the sake of having two gears. One for low speed, one for high.

As it stands it's just another karting class, and IMHO a daft one at that.

They're not massively quick, probably a second or 2 faster than regular max's.

In the rotax finals a RM1 class was run, mainly for the purpose of promoting the class.

Hmmm.. I don't like it!

Seems like Rotax have done this purely to try and sell more karts as there is no real market for them as not entirely gearbox karts if only two gears.

Yeah with the reverse it did a lap of the circuit at the Autosport show

Theyve been around for a few years now - I drove one out at Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt around the Ghibli circuit. It felt very quick, better than my Rotax as I could drop a gear and propel my fat ass out of the corners quicker. And the brakes.... Nearly popped out of the seat first time I used them - and I've got a Kelgate. For me would be a great class as I havent got the time to mess around with a real 125 Gearbox.
