Geva racing should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Is this a correct entry for the 2001 ELMS race at Donington?

According to all the speculation I have read, yes. I am a bit surprised to see the factory Audis and Champion Audi; I know the Donnington promoter promised at least one Audi(obviously the Johansson team) , but all of them is great. All the talk was that most of the regular ALMS teams would use Jarama as their ELMS round, and not Donnington, but I guess they are going to give them both a go, even though pts may only be accrued from 1. But in any case, that is an awesome field.

btw, as an aisde, ALMS has said the foot and mouth crisis will NOT affect the race: http://www.americanlemans.com/News/News.asp?ID=126

I thought from the press speculation that there was only going to be one ORECA entry, but that the Dick Barbour racing Reynard was going to make it debut.Still look fantastic though, I can't wait.

I'm glad to see both the old and new Panoz will be represented - it will be interesting to compare the Panoz Sounds!

I Have looked everywhere for an entry list for Donington but can't find. Read today that Champion will not race again until LeMans

This might be the race that Panoz and other teams can threathen the Audi's if it rains I mean. Last year, Germany, it rained and the audis faltered, now since that race very little to non wet testing has been going on and the basis for the good wet car is still in the hands of Panoz.

Donington

While the list that Geva put up is likely accurate as far as only one Westward Panoz showing up, I think it a bit optimistic as far as some of the other cars is concerned.

I bet that ten LMP cars and four LMP 675's will show.

It will still be a better field than Sebring.

Well as far as the list goes I feel that it's quite accurate and if both autosport and other newssources confirm this. I also think that if you go over the list with a logical mind you come to this conclusions:

Panoz will enter as many cars as possible and is encouraging other teams to do so as well. the team needs to develop this car on as many circuit types as possible
So Panoz will enter three cars inc. the Westward car.
Audi desperately needs rain testing because it could threathen a victory at le mans. They will enter three cars.
The count is 6 now.

Ascari and Oreca have developed their cars to such a point that they must be thinking about a SERIOUS competition debut.
The count is 8.

If Ascari will make it's debut, I feel that the three Ferrari's will do so to because they need a Head to Head with Ascar, Who will be their Main competitor.
The count is 11.

If konrad is coming to Donington, they will bring their Lola, they need mileage on that car and make it reliable.
Kremer needs to test the new roush engine for a possible continuation in sportscars
The count is 13

Pescarolo wants to be the team to win Le Mans for Courage. in order to do that they need to close the gap with Audi.
The pole team still has an excellent car but hasn't run for a time, this race gives them an excellent opertunity to race at a track they know
The count is 16

The LMP675 cars need track time, Dick barbour and ROC Reynards the most if they are going to make a considerable impression.

Give me your opinion then, MR Shadow.

Autosport????????

You use Autosport as a barometer of who will show at Donington?

Someone predicted on the PRCR board that 18 LMP's and 5 LMP 675's would come to Sebring. This Bozo used the same kind of fuzzy thinking that you have to come up with HIS "field of dreams".

I said that it would be 12 LMP and 3 LMP 675. That proved to be optimistic as it ended up being 9 and 1.

My guess is not based on intel from Autosport or even my own rationale, unlike your predictions.

I work in motorsport and know what I have heard about who is going. While 16 cars in LMP and several in LMP 675 would be nice to see, my guess is that it won't happen.

The Shadow
PS-
Care to bet say, $500 US, on who is closer to being right?
I never lose these bets, so know that going in Geva.

I don't like it, it resembles a Judd engine and takes away the true sprit of Panoz

an interesting opinion. could you elaborate, please?

i never liked the tone of the 6.0litre ford v8. it sounded like an overgrown lawnmower to me. i think that the 7.0litre corvette and saleen engines sound far more inspiring than the old panoz v8s. just my opinion.

good thing for you that dyson will carry on the pushrod v8 tradition!

p.s. NOTHING sounds like the judd! (except the ferrari?)

btw, i thought that the 5.7litre calloway sounded superb (so long as you stood on the right side of the car - the exhaust exits there!) it sounds very much like the iroc smallblocks, if you have ever seen them on tv.

Both the callaway and the Dyson Car sounded superbly but I feel that Callaway will be unable to get any good efforts underway in europe.
as for the Riley&Scott, This is just the thing that sportscar racing needs

R&S

You are right about sportscar racing needing the new R&S, Geva. Built right here in Indy, I really have great expectations of this car.

I hope that Dyson enters two of these at Sears Point and can do well against the Audi. This in turn could lead to privateers, like Jim M., coming back next year.

Ironic, a privateer car that saves the ALMS.

I feel that privateers have always done so. look at 1992, the Sportscar world was nowhere without the succesful support on the highest level of the sport. then in 1994 the ferrari's and Riley&Scotts gave the sportscars new life and after the privateers had left after 1997, there was no gt1 category worth mentioning.

Do you really think Dyson will enter two cars at sears point. If any team can get the best out of an R&S it's Dyson.

I only hope that the MK3-C can attract teams here in europe

TheRaceSite has a few notes on the entires. Most interesting, the only two GTS entries so far are saleens, no vettes or vipers(perhaps electing to run Jarama as earlier speculated). But 30 cars toital are expected, which is pretty decent, imho

The most up-to-date version of the official entry list is at www.professionalsportscar.com, also at www.totalmotorsport.com.- I'd tend to go with the TMS version at present, if only because the 'official' one insists on calling Rowan Racing's Martin O'Connell DANNY O'Connell for some reason... Also the PK Sport GT Porsche team do have their full driver line-up confirmed as far as I'm aware, although every list I've seen still has a couple of TBA's

I thought there were to be more cars

Geva-where are the 16 to 18 LMP cars that you said would be there?

The count is 10. Be glad you did not bet me.

I hope Ascari do actually show up with two cars. Their entry makes all the difference. The grid would really suck, but for their participation.

Things should be better after LeMans. Cadillac, Chrysler and Dyson all racing at Sears Point should make for a good show.

allricht allright, you were right and I were wrong (ouch!)

just wishful thinking I guess.

witch team do you think will campaign with the R&S MK3-C?
I'm going for either R&M, Conrero or SMG and perhaps Kremer.
