Gearbox kart Gerard. It's a big old engine so the seat has to be offset to compensate.

Love the autocross photos. Does it still exist as a sport? My father used to compete, one day our Sprite broke down so he used his company Cortina. This was back in the days when club sport was reported in the weekly Motorsport magazines, and his picture featured in Autosport. Which his boss had a subscription to......

Is that an old Villiers 210cc Gearbox class kart?

I'll get some more up, I have some colour ones as well, Karting was at Aldershot I think. Autocross was various, one set are up on the South downs ( Now a national park) between Sompting and Steyning, around 1970. Also have a few from Brighton speed trials. whoever had the Escort must have been on a healthy budget, it was nigh on a brand new car at the time.

'Fordys GT40' is what it says on the sheet with all the Ford snaps, theres a mini and a CObra also in the background, I think its in Worthing. I know my Dad drove it.

The J tpye van was a mates, they went to Spain in it with a trailer and ive recently ben sent some more photo's of their trip. .

A GT40 must have been quite a sight amongst your average car.

I don't think I've ever seen one on the road.

I think I may have mentioned it before, but John Wyer's lads used to road test their works' cars on the M4 past Heathrow and on to Chiswick before returning to their workshop in Slough, I believe. But only in the very early hours, even on Sunday mornings which would have been when we would be popping up to LHR to get a breakfast before going home to bed.

My former boss Jacky Setton had some cars in his stable and he used to use a road regitered light green GT40 to visit some k clients. Unfortunately the intense use of some Ferraris and others brought the attention of a zealous tax inspector… He thoroughly checked the Pioneer books and fined the company. Costly operation I remember.

Yes it is, i had the pleasure of racing that car from 2003, for the owner José Fernandez, until he sold it in about 2018. It was a challenging car but we has a few successes. Unfortunately since it sold aT Retromobile I haven’t heard of where it is, Sam.
