Funny that this thread started out in defence of Mondeos, now we are discussing the various faults and recalls.....

Can't wait to see what new surprises the new model brings when it finally arrives...

evo magazine have had a ST220 on long term test. Largely a great car, and they gave it some real stick driving-wise. It is a proper driver's car, and underrated by many. Main complaint over 15k miles or so seems to have been the climate control can't keep a constant temp - apparently one of the things sorted in the imminent facelift.

One thing that has become glaringly obvious in reading the long term test pages of evo - it's not just the mainstream Ford/Vauxhall dealers that give aftersales service. Mercedes and Audi dealers have both been given a proper pasting too. It seems the only marque with which you can expect consistently good aftersales service is Lexus...

I have to agree with evo on the climate control.... I too have found that they give good reviews of their long-termers, I was amazed at the attitude of the Audi dealer reported recently, especially when dealing with an RS6.

It's a pity that Lexus have been taken off the list for me, I still think it looks fresh design-wise.

Don't get me wrong, I agree about the driveability of the new-shape Mondeo's. It's just that in 98,000 miles, I have had the brake discs changed as many times as the pads and 2 new complete handbrake assemblies (not including recalls for brake modifications). It can't be my driving, I can get a set of front tyres to last almost 30,000 miles. In a model that was out before they fitted traction control across the board....

Especially when dealing with an RS6 that they know damn well belongs to the owner of a national motoring publication! Suggests to me the dealership isn't capable of acceptable service even when it tries

Your Mondeo brake problems don't sound good - definitely something not right design-wise... d'you know if they're fixing that on the facelift?

I would hope so, after all It's been the subject of 2 recalls.

Mine will be up for its 100,000 mile service in a couple of weeks. It was in recently for the aircon to be fixed and the garage told me then that I would need another set of front discs........

Anyone would think I was using carbon/carbon brakes!
