Maserati GT2

Read at Autoweek that Maserati might build a GT2 car.

There's been talk about Maserati building a GT2 version of the Trofeo for ages now. I think they even offered a GT2 kit for those who wanted to convert the Trofeo themselves but as far as i know no one made it yet. It would be nice if they really did build a GT2 Maserati though.

Same here, FIA GT's GT2 is suffering from a lack of cars and GruppeM is going to walk it in FIA GT.

I just hope that Maserati and Nissan will come in to give Porsche some competition.

I dont think Maserati will enter in GT2 competition; according www.racingworld.it it should be for the new GT3 class;
intead SportAutoMoto newspaper talks about the 2 new Ferrari 430 GT2 incoming for Team GPC (based on the know how F360 GTC and Step 5 Michelotto for Engine)

Autosport mentioned GT2. Couldn't that be a upgraded Maserati Trofeo Light? The one that's racing in Italian GT and Grand Am at the moment?

I would imagine so, its racing in the British GT championship and fairly effectivly too. Would be nice to see a works entry in FIA GT, or even a works supported entry but I dont see that happening whilst Nissan remain in Super GT. BTW, Welcome to ten-tenths!

I would think Nissan/NISMO are more focused on the engine used in the Rollcentre car rather than any 350Z GT2. And who knows were that could lead.

I think I'll wait for the Ferrari 430 to challenge the 911 rather than the Maserati.

And I would think we can be a little more hopefull of seeing an Aston V8 in GT2 after the promising perfromances and sales of the DBR9.

The Maserati Light is a GT3 at a reasonable cost. Building a GT2 (adding an X Track sequential gearbox and some sophistication) would dramatically increase prices and, knowing thet FIA and Ratel want to favour GT3, it does not make sense....

Autosport reports that Ferrari is 90% certain to develop the 430 into a GT2 racer.

wait with as much effort that NISMO puts behind its SuperGT program I'm sure they get a Z program going. The guestion is will they other teams go for it. Is the the long nose Emotion E sold in europe? thats what the the base for the Supergt and I fear if Nissan entered with that car it would be the Mazza situation all over agian. creating something like Group N special GT2 Plus if they can help rollcenter team then getting a car up and running ist much of a problem
