Any news on endurance wildcards? (merged x1)
i know it's only early days but who if any FV8 team wants too or is in a financial postion to do Bathurst?
you would imagine Sonic probably would be able to, maybe MW Motorsport and maybe DJR might run the Denyer BF?????? |

Any of the teams could do it, providing there are enough pay drivers ready and waiting...

The Wildcard requirement is appearing at both Phillip Island and Bathurst isnt it?
It still isnt totally clear what criteria will be used to assess a wildcard car. 2 Fords and 2 Holdens? Mr Noonan confirmed on V8XTRA that there will be 4 additional allocations of slots for these 2 events.... You would imagine that Howard Racing would want to run a car, as would Sonic, as would MWR, as would RIM, as would TAG, as would Jay.... The real question is what happens with the development series round at Bathurst, and if any of these pilots will need their chassis to continue a championship assault. For example, MWR has 4 chassis in the shed, but only runs 3. Conceptually they could run the 4th as the enduro car... while not interrupting the series' of Mr Lowe, Mr Assaillit or Mr Webb.. If DJR run a car for Mr Denyer, would it be the current BF, or a step up into the 3rd DJR FG? Interesting that Mr Noonan thinks Mr Davison would be the copilot... cant see how the budget would make that work... But what if SBR wants to run a 3rd car in TKR colours? Or if BJR want to use their spare VE to get Mr B.Jones back in a seat? Or Wilson Security want to run their newly acquired development series car alongside their 2 existing units.... It all still seems muddy doesnt it? |

Hopefully they don't make it complicated... it'd be cool to see how a development series car goes against the main series.

With only 12 Falcons in the main game, would the 4 additional seats be all Falcons. As mentioned by others here, I am speculating that the cars could be:
20 Sonic Motor Racing - Bryce Washington / TBA 37 Howard Racing - David Russell / Grant Sherrin 28 Matthew White Racing - Brad Lowe / Damian Assaillit 777 Dick Johnson Racing - Grant Denyer / TBA I do not see an issue with the doubling up of the chassis running both the Fujitsu Round and the main series at Bathurst. Andrew Jones did it in 2002. However as GTR mentioned, there is numerous possibilities, and for one of us to name the correct entries would be quite amazing. BTW, slightly off topic, GTR you mentioned that BJR have as spare VE chassis, do you know which one they have? |

Wildcards at Bathurst? I must keep up the the news...
Who will it be? I guess money talks and B/S walks. Who's got the biggest cheque book? It's a good idea and overdue. We still wont be seeing a huge grid on Sunday morning, but its a step in the right direction. |

Ellery? Do you think? When was the last time he was in a car (not that my opinion of his efforts was great when he was driving full time!)?

I'm told Skaife will be in a Kelly car if he can come up with the money. Apparently, his wife has given him ten bucks, his kids piggie banks produced $40.45 and Ford will give him $500,000. Tom said he was still owed money but may let him use his old helmet.

So there is the possibility of the Kelly Boys, Sieders Boys and Fiore Boys all combining for three sibling pairs, First time?

The Seidlers will be leasing the 06 winning chassis off 888, while Matthew White Racing may use an FPR FG, presumably the original car built in Jun 08 that has yet to be raced.

I shouldnt think so... the green machine will become an FG soon... perhaps the theory behind getting a media type in the car is around the free #7 camera... and the need to find a replacement sponsor for Fujitsu at season's end?

Anyone else frightened by the idea of Rodney Jane in the main race? He's very competent in a Porsche, but these things may be a little different...

Interesting too that the criteria was -
"For starters, the process works like this; applicants must provide details regarding what equipment they intend to use, who will be running the cars, the drivers who be entered, confirmed sponsors, and the available budget." MeNews 107 Guidelines put in place one would imagine to stop dreamers promising the world and delivering dirt, yet - "Matthew White Racing’s entry has a vale of secrecy surrounding it as eNews went to press. Team owner White would not part with any information regarding the entry other than “We’ll be there.” It is believed that MWR has the opportunity to run a current spec FPR FG, if the right funds are available" MeNews 109 So much for transparency, but what else would you expect from VE$A! |

The quality of cars selected isnt bad though, of the 4 chosen they are 2006 888 (Sieders), 2009 FPR (MWR), 2007 Tasman (Tasman/GMR) and 2008 888 (Sonic)
There arent too many others out there with the newer hardware they were ready to run. The Howard entry was going to be a 2006 888 car, a sister car to the Bathurst winner, but with many more miles.. the Race Image entry would likely have been for a 2003 DJR car, subsequently hot rodded... Wonder who actually put their hands up for an entry? |
