I think an Asian Touring Car Series race is scheduled to race on the Australian round of the Asian Festival Of Speed on September 10-11.

It will take more than a website to make it happen mabs, be prepared to be disappointed & give the mayor of Bunbury a ring because he is in Perth to see West Coast play that weekend.

Looks great Niv, but with Mr Jane naming rights looks like it may never run the Supercars there. Im sure it would have been a longshot anyway.

When is the Bunbury track due to be completed ???

Also mabs, you should write to the AMRS people and enquire about the chances of having the series visit WA in 2006 and beyond.

I don't want to waste my time because I know that would be very unlikely as this is WA and we are excluded out of everything and not just Motor Racing.
What ever hapened to the Formula Nippon and Super GT coming to WA and what hapened to the Bunbury International Circuit which which is meant to be under construction. I don't think it has even started constuction and don't think it ever will.

2005=WRC+V8 Supercars+AFOS
2006=V8 Supercars

I think you'll find those 'Bunbury' events may have been moved to Hidden Valley or cancelled.

Cheers Niv :-)

I'll be there, but not accredited, so I'll be in the members area or wandering around the pits... booked Friday and Monday as annual leave from the day job too... :-)

Here's a sample...

Here's the quick link to the album with the rest of the pics...
http://www.highoctanephotos.com/inde...nails&album=22

The days racing was split up into 3 groups of cars, which gave the drivers a chance to wander up the hill and watch some of the racing, rather than hanging around the pits waiting for their turn... The group the Mighty Mouse was competing in, is in the photos starting on around page 11 of the album...

Absolutely fabulous.
Thanks FIL, bring it East Dick so I can see it, say Philip Island, wouldnt take a lot of space in Paul Stubbers transporter.
Memo Mark Oastler how about a bit of flyweight muscle!

Can you confirm they have broken ground at Bunbury yet? I remember when QR was built and four months will not be enough if construction hasn't started yet.

Four months isn't really enough time to lay ashpalt and have it cure properly if your resurfacing an existing track... (ie, without any other major earthworks needed beforehand)

And then there's the infrastructure, like the access tracks, timing loops, pit area, dummy grid apron, buildings, power, water (drinking and irrigation - not neccessarily the same thing if grey water is available), stormwater, sewerage, gas (if required), telecommunications...

All that assumes the detail design is complete and the track has been modelled and safety approved.

promoting the leading Asian motorsports series including Formula Nippon, Super GT and the Asian Festival Of Speed (AFOS).

In addition, PIMM will work with all motorsport organisations in Australia to
promote local and national events, and help with growing resurgence in this premier sport.
