How will the GP Ducati d'Antin team do this year?
Do you think they'll be anywhere near the works Ducatis? Or do you think they'll be backmarkers? I just hope Hodgson and Xaus don't injure themselves trying to keep up with the leaders like Barros did last year though. I rekon Xaus will do better than Hodgson as I think his riding style will suit the Desmosedici better. Being better means finishing the race as well as being faster of course

I expect them to be mixing it with Suzuki, Aprilia, and even Kawasaki (now that they are Bridgestone shod).

Hopefully the intention for the riders is to show how good they can cope with a not-so-competitive bike and line up a works deal for 2005.

There['s nothing uncompetitive about the 2003 Ducati - it was a race winning machine and there's unlikely to be a massive advance from teh toher teams this year. Occasional top 10 grid placings and maybe some lucky top 5 results are posisble. It's NEil's last chance though.

If he does not perform, is it possible he may go backwards to WSBK like Garry McCoy?

They should be reasonably competitive. I doubt race wins are possible, but a podium or two are a chance.
Watching Xaus on these machines should be very exciting. IMO he could do rather well. |

I think they will struggle - the bike is undoubtedly good, but as was seen with Edwards and Bayliss last season, it's a big step up from WSB to MotoGP. Agree it will be fun to watch Xaus, but I hope he keeps himself (and others) safe. He had a big off today at PI, but is apparently OK, thank goodness.

Personally I think that Xaus and Hodgson will do a good solid job this year, they wont be anywhere near the top 6, but perhaps a few top 10 finishes is not out of the question. I think Xaus will be faster as has been shown so far in testing particulary at the beginning of the season, Hodgson will probably start to really get to grips with the bike after a couple of races. Once Hodgson has got to grips with the bike and the team I think he should be the faster rider out of the 2.

both xaus & hodgson were close to bayliss' time on day 2 at the island - only thing is that capirossi was fastest some 1 sec quicker....

I think a lot depends on the help they get from Ducati Corse aswell. With no development the bike will quickly fall away from the constant updates given to the factory teams, unless Corse allow them updates and they can be used on the 03 bike
