ATS German F3 Cup 2009

Laurens Vanthoor has been confirmed with Van Amersfoort Racing and Volkswagen for another crack at the title in 2009. He had a great first season, I can well see him winning the ATS Cup this year.

Is there any chance at all of Joey Foster getting a ride in the series this year?

Haven't heard anything about Joey Foster this season, although didn't he participate in some form of F3 race last year? Can't remember.

Stef Dusseldorp will be Vanthoor's team-mate at Van Amersfoort Racing. He was a race winner in FR NEC last year and also a top 10 finisher in FR Italia.

Performance Racing will also run VW engines and are in talks with their 2008 drivers, Adderly Fong and Rafael Suzuki, about continuing into 2009.

This is the calender:

09th to 13th April Oschersleben ADAC Masters Weekend
21st to 23rd May Nürburgring 37th ADAC 24h-Rennen
05th to 07th June Hockenheim ADAC Masters Weekend
19th to 21st June Oschersleben FIA GT Championship
03rd to 05th July EuroSpeedway Lausitz ADAC Masters Weekend
07th to 09th August Assen/NL 10th Rizla Racing Day
01st to 23rd August Nürburgring Int. 1000km-Rennen
18th to 20th September Sachsenring ADAC Masters Weekend
16th to 18th October Oschersleben ADAC Masters Weekend

He raced in the last round of Austrian F3 Cup with HS Technik. He won both races, largely thanks to the Dallara F308 chassis, which is ineligible for championship points.

HS Technik will run 3 cars in ATS Cup, with Bernd Herndlhofer and Willi Steindl already confirmed. Link

As I said in other thread, ZyXEL RRT (=Russian Racing Team) will enter only one Mercedes powered car. That's what team chief Igor Makarin told to openracing.ru.

btw, Vladimir's surname is Semenov

no reason why the german championship shouldnt have strong #'s - though saying that, it has taken a few years to happen since the euro series started. Go the ATS

Teams can test whenever they want... So yes, testing is underway. Normally just a few days before the start of the season, there is the official test day.

There was a test day at Nürburgring in 20.3.

I haven't seen results anywhere, but ATS cup's website mentions the top 3:

Markus Pommer, Zettl Sportsline 1.49,921
Max Nilsson, Swiss Racing 1.50,232
Marco Oberhauser, Neuhauser Racing 1.50,563

Art-Line wasn't testing as they have had some problems to get the cars ready. Apparently something related to fitting Spiess-engines into their Arttechs.

Another Russian team ZyXEL RRT was there to shake down their cars, now with Mercedes power (they ran with Opel last year). NEZ champion Semenov's fastest lap was 1.53,892.

There's a test day at Lausitz in 6.4. and in Oschersleben just before the first race.

Art-Line have announced that they'll run Ukrainian Sergey Chukanov in ATS cup. Chukanov raced in ATS cup also in 2008 and was backed by Lukoil. The oil company doesn't support him any more.

I don't know if Chukanov's team mate will be Shaytar or Samarin, but as far as I know, they will run two cars only.

Anyone knows why Gerhard Tweraser has been replaced by Hamad Al Fardan at HS Technik on the entry list for the first round?

Must have been an error, because Tweraser is back on the entry list and no sign of Al fardan. And Hamad Al Fardan was confirmed for GP2 Main Series if I'm not mistaken, so it would have made no sense that he was on that entry list.
