2012 FIA European Touring Car Cup
Just noticed the calendar for the 2012 FIA ETCC, which is reverting to a multiple event format.
The first three rounds will be held during WTCC events at Monza, Valencia and Salzburgring. Does this mean combined fields or separate races? Quote:

That's interesting! The track selection seems to counter the lack of proper touring car championships in the Mediterrean and Central Europe.
I believe that it should be a parrallel championship like in Superstars' International and Italian championships, so WTCC regulars would score too for the European championship. |

I don't think it has been specified yet but I presume separate races, unless very few cars turn up.
The ETCC cars can only be normally aspirated 2 litre or 1600 n/a, where as next year all WTCC entries have to be 1.6 turbo, unless they are 1-off entries like the Lacettis at Macau. There appears to be 1 Peugeot announced for the ETCC so far, would hope we will see Hartmann back to defend the title. Would be nice to get a decent field of 6 or 7 front runners as I think it could be good little series if they could get a few decent names alongside the normal entrants they seem to get. |

There are certainly a shed-load of N/A S2000 cars around for relatively little outlay if a team wants a decent crack at an FIA European title. I'm hopefully of a strong turn-out, one can dream A Hungarian team has confirmed somewhere their entry in a Pug 407 S2000

Slovakian team Homola motorsport recently bought Ex-STCC (Stureson) BMW 320si. I expect them to enter the race at Slovakiaring with Mato Homola (last year driving Alfa Romeo 156).

Pff, they're really getting desperate for entries now: http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=7220
Allowing the Leon Cupra and Clio Cup cars? The majority of the european national series have grids of a higher standard, just kill the frigg'n championship already! |

Michelisz has a positive influence on touring car racing in Hungary.
After Tim GabĂłr in the Peugeot 407, another hungarian might appear on the starting grid of the ETCC: Ferenc Ficza in an Alfa Romeo 156 (ex. Thompson) http://wtcchirek.blog.hu/2012/02/20/..._unicorse_alfa |

I support this notion! Seriously, I wonder why Lotti and the FIA haven't tried to do something like the Blancpain Endurance Series for touring cars. There are still enough S2000 cars to fill such a series.

Jorrit, in Gábor Tim's name the "Gábor" is the first name, "Tim" is the last (family) name. The ETCC authors have looked wrong on the entry list. So correct way to write: Gábor Tim.

That said, they could easily put less stressed engines in those cars, like that one Belgian team did with their E90 that is powered by a 3.2l I-6. |

...actually quite good. Seriously low-budget Eurosport2 coverage (though MH is ok).
Don't know what Fulin was playin' at... |
