Custom ALMS Valve Covers (thread closed!)

I work for a company that makes custom valve covers for hot rods and muscle cars and I thought fore Christmas, I'd make my parents each a custom cover. They can put them in their office as a reminder that I've finally found a job and I'm finally making something of myself.

We have 3 custom laser engravers that can engrave extremely precise images onto the covers so for my mom, I'm going to make a Detroit Red Wings cover and for my dad, an ALMS cover.

So I'm looking for possible photos that I could engrave onto the covers for the ALMS one. I'm looking for photos that "define" the series. Whether it be pictures of cars, or "atmosphere" at the track, whatever pics you feel really give a feel for the series.

Thanks in advance

The esses (2 thru 7) at Road Atlanta with traffic on them taken from just behind 7 looking back through the esses. Lasered on the covers so when you open the hood turn 2 is at the firewall and 7 is at the front of the engine (orientation).

Two images that certainly define the ALMS are as follows , imo .

http://www.endurancesportscar.com/photo/logo_aco.gif

Only for Don Panoz & the ACO , there wouldnt be such a series , anywhere !!!

I would like to see a pic of the finished produce please , when you get them finished .

Brilliant idea .

I'm going to engrave the ALMS logo onto the chrome breather, and etch the image onto the cover itself.

I'm thinking this could be an awesome one:

Ah but you see just because there's no money involved doesn't mean squat when it comes to US copyright laws. You wouldn't have a leg to stand on if your use is outside of "criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. " A gift for your dad, be it noble, doesn't fit in there.

Well I highly doubt the ALMS is going to sue one of their biggest fans because they put their logo on something as a gift for their dad...

It would be quite sad if they did...

Bob Riebe User has been fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour!
Many years ago, I made my own silk screen t-shirts with the IMSA loga and a picture of one of John Greenwood's corvettes.
I wore them for years to race tracks and was never threatened with anythng.
If questioned I simply said I made it for me.

Honestly, I'd think the series would LOVE hearing stories of people putting their own time and effort into making things that commemorate their series. If people were selling ALMS branded goods, I can understand they may be unhappy, but in a series that's "For the Fans" they probably LOVE seeing the fans taking things into their own hands.

I was not responding to your comments. I was simply giving WMUCarGuy a complement on coming up with a creative gift for his parents, which I think they will appreciate. As social animals it is sometimes nice to receive positive feed back for something that is dear to you instead of being criticized.
