2007 was the best for me with 1997 a close second.
2007 the Raikkonen victory over the McLaren pair was just excellent. With almost no chance he takes it in the final race after all the drama with Hamilton and Ron combining for failure in China. And also all the cheating being done by McLaren, it was sweet justice. Also Raikkonen gets a championship after being denied while at McLaren. 1997 of course was Villeneuve triumphant over the treacherous Schumacher. What a pass at Dry Sac for the win. O'Canada! |

I saw my first F1 car live at 18 , my first GP at 19, last saw a modern F1 car on track at 61 and was 33-37 in my favourite era in late 80s .
F1 was essentially Formula DFV when I started , and the emphasis was on grip, not power , The turbo era changed all that , and also introduced a much more diverse soundtrack , and that trend happily continued into 89/90 and the return of NA engines . I knew the writing was on the wall when I realised that every single one of those daft little 2.4 V8s sounded exactly the same |

A taste of 1985....and the drivers sorted things out without any stewards getting involved!

And none of this pantywaist nonsense about pit lane speed limits , let alone the now compulsory bleating on radios about what the bad man just did .

I know there was a fatality in the historic support race. Certainly it was a great place to for F1 to go to. It had and still has despite a few changes over time a great flow to it and you didn't have a car park on the outside of corners either, apart from the old track at Paddock.
I think the track left the calendar because the promoters had a falling out with Bernie? |

And, yes I was there that day when Stephen Langton was thrown from his car. |
