LMP2 Aesthetic Opinion Poll

Performance may be beauty, but that won't stop us from complaining about it anyway. This should give us something to discuss during the winter.

Well, after seeing them all race, the Ligier gets my vote. The Dallara has grown on me a little since the beginning, while I preferred the old Oreca 05 to the new 07.

FormulaFox is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
I vote for the Riley. In doing so I also underline why good looks =/= good performance.

Ligier for me. I think that they have produced the best looking LMP2s from the outset.....

2014-2016 Ligier lmp2 was one of the best lmp ever made; 2017 Ligier is even prettier. Easy win for onroak here.
Oreca isn't ugly but hasn't any aesthetic appeal IMHO, dallara has a too conventional design, riley.... well... ugly, uncompetitive, unreliable and overweighted.... no doubts that so far is the worst lmp2 ever made.

I voted Ligier as it looks real nice to my eye. However I did have to think about it before voting as the Oreca made me consider it as well. I think it has a very clean, attractive look to it.

By far if we were voting for the ugliest it would be an easy choice to go with the Dallara. That Jumbo car at Le Mans was just the worst thing to have to look at!

I like the Oreca the best. Not a fan of the high-nose look currently trending in lmp. The Ligier has the best looking headlight assembly, but I like the Oreca's and Dallara's profile the best, but the Oreca looks better head-on. The Riley is by far the least eye-pleasing imo

It'd help all the cars if they could go back to an Audi R8/R10 or Bentley Speed 8 type raised nose, sort of like the Toyota runs now. Of course, the Toyota (as well as the others mentioned) ran/runs a more conventional front diffuser that ran at least to the front wheel centerline (or close to it).

Using the front diffuser as basically a twin or (more commonly) single element wing as opposed to a diffuser is what's driven the raised nose. It'd also help if they could get rid of the tuning vanes and crap like that on all the cars. It helped with the LMP1s this year.

Of course, I still like how simple the LMP900s and 675s and even early LMP1s and LMP2s looked. I wish there was also a more elegant solution than the fender holes and dorsal fin to deal with flips, but we're stuck with them until one is found.

But this is what happens when progress happens to get back what rules makers try and take away. As much as it may or may not suck, there's not much we can do about it--you can't unteach what has been learned.

The DPIs IMO look the best, even with the weird "wings" on the Acura and ESM Nissan. The Oreca looks like Valeo had a clearance on Peugeot 908 headlights.
