car owner websites
verdict - good or bad?
i've just joined a renaultsport owners forum (not the renaultsport one though, that's pants). it's nice to know there's people who also love their cars, but it's also sad to find out there's people who also love their cars so much... you lot signed up to any owner websites? |

Well there is the MG Xpower Fourm, which is really good. As some people will have seen they are just about ever TOCA round and in large numbers too. Sadly I don't own an MG. Used to have Rover though but not anymore.
I know there is also Seat site which is along the same lines to the MG one. |

There's the Dutton Owners Club message board at http://www.duttonownersclub.co.uk
an independant Dutton Forum at http://invisionfree.com/forums/Dutto...ex.php?act=idx a Triumph forum, but thats for Sports 6 club members only so I can't do a link a Granada forum at http://www.granada-and-scorpio-online.com/forums/ All good useful forums, but all prone to childish bickering at times If you can ignore the inevitable idiots then all the sites can be usefull sources of help, sympathy and information. Bluebottle - the TSSC forum is members only, however these aren't...
http://www.totallytriumph.net/cgi-bi...um/dcboard.cgi http://www.tr-register.co.uk/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi [requires registration - but not membership] http://www.racingtriumphs.co.uk/ Oh, hang on. Does that make me sad? Still the forum on my site is GRATE - mind you, it would be - it's this one... |

In the past I was a member of SIDC - Subaru Impreza Drivers Club, www.sidc.co.uk - but I s'pose I've kinda grown out of it, lots of boy racers talking about mods, rolling road output numbers and 1/4 mile times... However, the site is genuinely useful for Impreza owners - everything you will ever need to know (especially on the '93 to '99 car) is in the faq.
There's also www.scoobynet.co.uk, with a forum open to non members (you have to be a paid up member of SIDC to use their forum). Depending what happens in the not too distant future, I hope to justify membership of www.quattroownersclub.com and/or www.pcgb.co.uk ... granada-and-scorpio-online... now that's sad! Seems scoobynet's broke at the moment...
Anyway, here's a couple of Jaguar ones from my esteemed colleague: Jaguar Drivers Club - www.jaguardriver.co.uk - for people who like to drive their Jags... Jaguar Enthusiasts Club - www.jec.org.uk - presumably for people who just like to look at them... |

I take it back 'bottle - not sad at all! In fact I miss the days of old when the mass-produced marques always had a big luxury model - there really isn't much out there these days that's equivalent to a 24v Senator or a 2.8i Ghia X Grandad... |

i am a member of the impclub forum as my car is imp based. used to post on the RSOC forum but they were all muppets.
most owner based ones seem a bit naff and bordering on the level of tacky-ness of a trekkie convention. so stick to the motorsport forums instead |

I'm a member of several racing clubs and I really enjoy being part of those, but my experience of single make or model clubs is that they are often filled with sad, old ******s or one eyed, brain dead losers with chronic badge disease.

I go on www.civictype-r.co.uk but with all the young guns on there I get to feel pretty senile.

Mike, I thought I might inadvertently ruffle some feathers there, but that has been my admittedly limited, experience of single make/model car clubs.

Yep!!
Agreed, there are more than enough pompous asses alive and well in Car Club land. They are missing the point, our small club tries to emphasise the fun part!!

Have been a member of www.escortevolution.co.uk - for all types of Mark 5 and 6 Ford Escorts - for a while, it really is a very helpful site, can get lots of good discussions/arguments going too!
