I think the list of grids at the top of this thread is about what can be fitted into the timetable!

I’m guessing that it will be all qualifying on Friday, then races through the weekend, as last year. For some it meant being there three days, with possible 3 nights hotel. And a lot of ‘down’ time.....

Yeah, but one less opportunity for some great pizzas. Unless you stay overnight anyway.

Is it the same DRM Revival that has appeared at the Nurburgring Oldtimer meeting for the last few years ? If it is the Porsche 935s , BMW M1s , Zakspeed Capris will be pretty awesome round Donington . Happy memories of the DRM races at Donington of years gone by .

That’s the only thing that came to mind- in which case you’d think they’d make a bit of noise about it!

If it is the same, awesome cars....

Funny how your memory plays tricks on you sometime. I could have sworn there were at least a couple of DRM races at Donington . Checking up I see just the one non-championship Group 5 race in 1980 won by Klaus Ludwig in a Zakspeed Capri . There were a couple of BMW M1 Procar races in 1979 and 1980 and if it is the DRM we think it is , it will be mega to see 935s etc round Donington once again .

No one we’ve ever heard of then! There’s a few M1s in Peter Auto CER series, plus 935s, and I guess several in Germany racing there. And there is, of course, a replica Zak Capri in the UK, built and raced by the well known Capri specialist. Thinking about it, there’s a lot of appropriate cars in Europe- let’s hope we see a few of them!

Hopefully so.They have a good amount of tracktime with a 1hr race and a 35 mins quali.I don't know much about them but I would think between 15 to 20 would be good?

Made the even longer now for this event. Can wait.Still 3 months though...

It’s all speculation on our part, and there’s an awful lot of question marks regarding that possible race. A search doesn’t even reveal anything on the AvD website, and they’ve run DRM ‘revival’ races at the Oldtimer meeting before. I would also think that getting owners to come over from Europe, as things are with border uncertainty, will present a challenge. (Although if what’s been written on Facebook is to believed, some series are promising good support to UK races later in the season)

In the meantime, found these pics from 2018 Nurburgring. Think less than 20 cars there, in the country where DRM ran, so getting the same at Donington would be an impressive feat....

Don't forget nearly thirty were entered for the demonstration at last year's Goodwood Members Meeting . Not sure how many took part due to the weather .

Found the results for DRM races at the 'ring last year and it seems as though the field was in the mid twenties for the first race with a few cars falling by the wayside for the second race . Mostly Porsche Carreras and BMW M1 Procars ( nothing wrong with that ) with just Peter Mucke's winning Zakspeed Capri and a couple of 935s in the Group 5 class as well as a couple of Capri RS3100s . Of course as you say Mike , it's all just conjecture !

At the Norisring last year the DRM started a new series for Sports Racing cars of the 1960s and 1970s . Known as the Sportscar 2000 series it is aimed at cars such as Porsche 904 and 906 , Lotus 23 and Chevrons and Elvas etc . With a name like Sportscar 2000 it's presumably aimed at the smaller Sports Racing cars and I'd guess would be a replacement for the old , poorly supported 1000 km series .

Can't find any more info on this than the other DRM series online , just came across a website titled 'marktspiegel' dated 24.4.2018 . Afraid I don't speak German ( don't speak English that well ) but from the article that was the info that I gleaned .

Sherlock! You could be on the right track as the timetable wording says ‘DRM Sports Racing Cars’.

No doubt it all will come out in the wash.......

The ProCar BMW M1 race which was part of the Gunnar Nilsson memorial meeting was one of the finest spectacles I've ever seen at a UK circuit.

Shockingly , it was 40 years ago- I am still not sure how that happened ...

Be nice to see cars like that again , but I wish we could go back in time to enjoy the track proximity we enjoyed then . At so much of Donington - Redgate and the Old Hairpin especially- I now no longer feel I am even in he same bloody post code as the track .

The M1 is one of my favourites. Get yourself to a Peter Auto meeting where they can still be seen racing!

Elementary my dear .....Bell ! Sounds similar to the original regs for the HSCC's Guards Trophy championship with FVA/C engines forbidden but allowing slightly later cars such as the Chevron B16 so long as they are BMW powered . Be nice to see some of the rarely seen ( in the U.K. ) cars such as Abarths and Alfa Romeo TZs etc.
