Wanted 1st Gears for WHT

As we run in CFFC where the starts are rolling, we need, to preferably borrow or hire, 2 sets of the integral 15-36 for the WHT. Can anyone help?

I have a 15-36 you could use but I think you need a 14-36 for Silverstone?

Thanks for the offer and the information, our unexperience is showing. So does anyone have 14-36?
Redracer77 if I am not able to get 14-36 can I take you up on the offer. Will you be at WHT and how do we contact. My full name is Geoff Dean and drivers will be Matthew and Rebecca (not yet confirmed).
regards Geoff.

mattray has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
You will only use 1st off the line so either a 14 or 15/36 will do it, if you ahve a 9:31 Diff most people use a 15/36 and for a 10:31 diff a 14/36.

I also have a 15/36 if you need one. it's not a shaft mounted one though if thats what you need.

Here's one then as I don't know.

If you have a shaft mounted 15:36 and you need a 14:36, can you just get the 14 Ratio or is the cut of the 36 different for the 14 and 15?

Any ideas???????

Is it not the 14/15 bit that is part of the shaft?

Sorry it is for Mk8/9. The 14/15 is part of the shaft and as consequence expensive for just one race weekend per year. You can get 15-36 as separate gear but we are unsure of it's strength.
Any comment, Matt as you may have tried it?
I thought the gears were made as sets 14-36 15-36 and could not be mixed, again not enough experience with these particular sets.

No need to have it on the shaft at all.

Should be able to pick these up for £50 good second-hand?

If you have a good run at the WHT, you'll make about 8 starts inc. green flag laps...

Thanks John, you seem to infer that these gears would have a limited number of starts, in this case is second hand a good option without the history. Buying at that price level is an option.

It is John.

But can you get just the 14 or 15 to match up with the same 36? Or is the cut of the 36 slightly different?

I know your not supposed to mix ratio's, but in the case of the 14:36 and 15:36, is it possible?

You have to use matched pairs of gears to retain the correct spacing between the two shafts. For what its worth I would leave the 'long ' 1st in and give it more revs. What you lose initially is more than made up when the rest are changing into 2nd earlier....and if it is wet you will win all round.

No, sorry, not at all. I meant £50 for a lot of starts means its £50 well spent.

You would need to either get a new shaft mounted 15/36 or a new shaft without the gear attached and seperate ratios if you see what I mean, which would be the expensive route to take. Expensive either way I am afraid.

I wouldnt mix and match either, makes a hell of a whine!

Try calling JP gearboxes at Silverstone and see if he has any 2nd hand ones that people have got rid of to be able to put a seperate 1st in. other then that maybe try Ken Thorougood at URS?
