Edgardo Fernández became the new Súper TC2000 director. 2019 cars will have less downforce, and in 2020 engines will be replaced with the intention of having turbos.

DTA Racing with FIAT next season.
Drivers: Mariano Werner, Fabián Yannantuoni and Matías Muñoz Marchesi.
Does this mean Peugeot has left STC2000?

It sounds like it's related to the focus on environmentally friendly initiatives, but I doubt so.

The Turismo Nacional has some venues announced:
February 24: La Pedrera
March 24: La Pampa
April 21: El Villicum
May 12: Neuquén
June 2: San Jorge (if the repaving is finished)
Venues under discussion are Termas de Río Hondo, San Nicolás, Rosario, Viedma, La Plata, and Bahía Blanca.
They want to do a two-driver race, but not at the Gálvez, which is too expensive to rent.

The Super TC2000 authorities are discussing to use Oreca engines. The units would be a 1.6L turbo developing 380 hp.

It's from PSA group. I think it's the same developed for the kit R4 rally category, a kit developed by Oreca

Is it possible to replace 420hp V8 with a TCR engine without any reliability concerns? And, yes, the reason for the change is very interesting. Do the organisers believe themselves when they are talking about "technologies which can be brought from racing to road cars" (if I've translated some news correctly)? There's no connection between manufacturers and the engine itself if I'm not mistaken. Besides they are going to make cars less aero loaded. So, more "road car look". I really do not see the point here. Is it interesting to watch street car racing? Besides, they are talking about higher top speeds. I should say it's not a great idea with some serious brake-related crashes from 2018 season.

It's about branding and marketing. Manufacturers want four-cylinder turbos, so they will put them on the racecars.
"Fat cars" look awesome, but race poorly. Less downforce will make races more interesting.

OK, and what is the difference with Top Race V6 in that case? They use bodyshell that looks like a street one.
