2007 Clipsal 500 - March 1st - 4th
Interesting to see the event is now in early March. This will avoid the busy mid March activities in Adelaide and is obviously on prior to the AFL season.
Your thoughts...... |

And a weekend of +35 degree Celsius days will sort out not only the peasants but also the drivers
Perhaps if it is too hot, we can run the races at night!!!!! Mike |

The effects of the Football, V8s being telecast on the same day on the same station are being felt. Having to push the season forward means the v8 fans and drivers will have to suffer hotter conditions at the start of the season. Sitting in the open sun in possible 35+ heat at Adelaide and Perth, surely is not good for ones health either.

We maybe half an hour behind the Eastern States, but we are on the ball when it comes to organising events and letting the paying public no when our event is on. As for the weather, well at that time of the year it can be anything, mild, warm hot.....just look at this years Clipsal 500.... hot, but the days following the event were in the low 20's. |

it was also mentioned on this site last night around 10pm from a press release at the v8 web site
Weather wont be a problem, we have had 40 plus clipsal befores plus now we have the new extreme weather policy as announced in darwin, so the cars will run cooler than this year, warm for the spectators though possibly (it could still rain or be chillly) Nothing quite like 40degree sun beating down on the grandstand for providing beer drinking weather |

I'd love to see them run one of the races at the Clipsal at night.... might need to pull some sponsors stickers off some headlights, but that would look wicked!
We're still waiting to hear what this extreme weather policy is, peckstar.... |

i dont know what the extreme weather policy is, it was announced at Darwin, but im not privy to th announcment, im led to believe it is enforcing no windows on all cars to stop built up heat, it makes all cars less aerodynamik as a result, but dont know anything more than that

You seem to be putting a lot of faith in this weather policy for something we dont even know what it is.

no faith at all, just keep mentioning it because it has been created.
but as i also keep saying we have had clipsal races wheer the temp has been plus 40, so the move to earlier should not be a problem |

Fair eneough, but surely by moving the event earlier they are hightening the chances of hotter temps.

they are, but is that a bad thing?
what would you rather a 40 c bathurst or a negative wind chill bathurst. much rather warm than cold |

It'll really put drivers to the test won't it?

Are Channel 7 promising more live airtime for next years Clipsal 500?
Datewise it should be fine, as Peckstar says there is the weather policy that will be brought into effect if necessary (whether it makes a difference or not who knows?) |

Living in Adelaide I can tell you this, it can be hotter in late March early April than in late Feb/early March!!
As I said ealier, the days following this years Clipsal we had temps in the low 20's.!!! So lets just roll the dice and see what happens. |

Some humans are a bit confused about what is better, warm or cold.
To explain: when it is colder, you can put more clothes on. When it is warmer, you can not continue to take clothes off. There is a limit to how cool you can be in Australian summers without air conditioning. There is no limit to how warm (comfortable) you can be in Australian winters - just put more clothes on, or put a blanket over you. |

Probably because our summers are way tooooo hot for racing.
I remember my first ever race meeting all suited up with fireproof undies etc 38c outside, felt like 50c inside the car waiting on the form up grid. Still I lost 3kg that meeting, had to add some weight to the car |
