Also, there should be a good 2nd hand market in various open European series like VLN, Britcar or in Scandinavia. |

So in that case the Porsche GT-America is more of a straight replacement of the current Grand-Am Porsche. |

The current GA-Porsches are real Franken-cars with lots of RSR-bits. I think the GT-America will be much closer to what GTC is now, though of course on the 991 platform, with the biggest difference being the 4.0l engine. |

And as for letting GT3s in, the reason is obviously not costs-savings for existing teams but to attract other teams to increase the series' popularity.
I think we all want to see Mercedes Gullwings, Lamborghinis, McLarens and Astons in GTD next season, and those would only be coming for GT3. |

So we have a confirmation on the Keating entry with a SRT Viper GT3 with Jeroen Bleekemolen as one of the drivers.

Someone asked them what they named it, and they said "Expensive." Funny though, it's about half as expensive as their old car.

It seems many of posters haven't read this:
http://sportscar365.com/imsa/tusc/po...or-gt-america/ The original problem was that the Grand Am GT class regulations were not compatible with FIA GT classes. A typical way to race Porsche 911 in Grand Am, was to buy a GT3 Cup car, then rebuild it, which was horrendously expensive. Now Porsche builds a 991-generation car specially for GTD competition. The chassis is based on the 991 Cup car, but the engine is the 4.0L from the 991 RSR. The transmission and some other things were also tailored for GTD. This may be the most popular car in GTD next year because it's the least expensive. Besides, 911 GT America, we should also see some Ferrari 458, SRT Viper, Aston Martins, and Audi R8. It's a pretty diverse field IMO. It would be nice to see BMWs or Corvette, but they still will be around in some form in the GTLM class. |

Ironically, Magnus was in the hunt for the Grand-Am GT championship until it was taken out on the first lap at Lime Rock by a GT3 Aston. If it ain't broke, why "fix" it? Andy Flinn |

Actually, it was a GAGT Aston, complete with that thicker roll cage GA inexplicably made Audi, Ferrari, and Aston Martin put in. They also had to remove the windows, put on a different wing and splitter, AND use a GA-spec ECU to slow the car down. Not a GT3 car at all.

John Dagys predicts seven GTD manufacturers.
Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, SRT and BMW are pretty much confirmed, am I right? There's talks about Audi and Mercedes-Benz. So the guesses for extra manufacturers are McLaren, Nissan, Lamborghini and Bentley, plus the new Callaway Corvette. |

Bentley will not be in it, Callaway would be an incredible longshot that I'll put in the not-gonna-happen category.

Interesting to see that Dagys says "seven manufacturers by Sebring", though - someone skipping out Daytona? |
