Just spotted a new entry on the website: Motorsport Sysslingarnas with driver Stefan Jonasson in a Lotus Elise. AWR in the Saab 9-3 Biopower GT seems to be back for 2007 also (they blew an engine or something like that in the penultimate round and had to skip the final).

I have understood there'll be a series called FIA NEZ Supercar in 2007. "New" series consists of Baltic GT and Nordic Supercar and has four rounds. I don't think calendar is officially released yet but this is how it should be:

20.5. Mantorp, Sweden
30.6. Våler, Norway
10.8. Pärnu, Estonia
26.8. Ahvenisto, Finland

Pärnu and Ahvenisto are Finnish GT Championship rounds also.

Well, isn't that how those FIA Zone championships work? FIA says to Nordic Supercar, Finnish GT and Baltic GT that "hey, let's make some of your rounds part of the NEZ championship" and then hope that a couple of guys will truck around and do all of them. No or almost no work for FIA, and viola a new championship I could be all wrong though.

I do recall the FIA CEZ (Central Eur. Zone) Championship being quite like that, wasn't it Nimc in the Mercedes CLK that was the main one there?

I think you can ad the speedlab corvette to the list of entries, they´re doing a total rebuild of their car. And the AWR 9-3 will get a new 2.0 turbo engine.

Nice to see them supporting STCC at three races; should give us pretty decent grids. That's how it usually works

Current entry list
Per-Erik Axelhult / Chevrolet Camaro
Pertti Kuismanen / Chrysler Viper GTS-R
Görgen Ohlsson / Mercedes CLK 55 AMG
Johan Weglin / Saab 9-3 GTss BioPower (expected)
Autoart Motorsport Porsche 911 (based on a 962 by the way)
Beastpower BMW M5
Speedlab Chevrolet Corvette (was it a C4R? And I suspect Kaepers and the other driver will share the car for 2007 too?)
Stefan Jonasson / Lotus Elise

It was based on a C4 at least. If you join the swedish forum rejsa.nu you can se the progress they´re making in their building-thread. They´re practicaly building a new car and it seems as if it´s going to have a C6 body now.

The AWR saab team also has a building-thread there.

There should be more cars from Finland and Estonia on NEZ rounds at Mantorp, Våler, Pärnu and Ahvenisto. About 100% sure are SMR Motorsport BMW M3 / Tõnu Soomer and SRT Escort / Kalle Sarlin.

Other possible entries to the NEZ GT are BMW M1 / Olli Virtanen, second SMR BMW and cars from Finnish GT: Team Spirit Porsche 993 RSR & Venturi 400 GT, Westend Racing Porsche 911 Cup, Aarnio Racing Porsche Boxster...

Nordic Supercar have been given the offer to race as a support class to the WTCC event at Anderstorp. They will probably need to convince the drivers to OK this, but I sure hope they will be there!

I was just a the Nordic Supercar site, IF, a big IF, they could get every car on the team list, at one race, they would put every GT series in the world to shame.

I say if we're lucky, Mantorp and Våler can be great. This is because both events are held togeather with STCC - the most popular series in Sweden with between 12k-20k spectators, and that draws more cars - and are part of the NEZ championship, and thus we hopefully get some additional cars. And, Våler drew 15-16 cars on its own (the only race with STCC they had last year)...

Good mix, but I miss a few Corvettes. Hopefully we'll see them in the near future though.

Haapalainen was a late addition; he's in a Chrysler Viper GTS-R from Oreca (boy, we got a few of those, haven't we?)

Edit: Sten Jarl will have his Oreca Viper ready by early June also.

Actually it is a FIA GT3 spec Viper Competition Coupe, not a GTS-R. Indrek Sepp drove the very same car in Finnish GT Championship opening round at Botniaring last weekend.
