BMW to solve row
Gerhard Berger has said that BMW may give in to Alfa Romeo and Volvo over the gearbox row and allow the 'off the shelf' gearboxes. This move should allow SEAT to join the series, but Berger also said there are some other rules that may need adjusting. Well done BMW for doing the right thing.

OTOH, according to your comments, BMW seems to be attaching other conditions in return for their acceptance of a racing gearbox? So in fact, BMW could just be finding other ways of giving their cars an advantage, now that the transmission advantage has been given up.
Yet again, I have to agree, BMW seems to be doing the sportsmanlike thing. By having another make, BMW can hopefully beat another manufacturer??? ;-) Or am I being too hard on BMW? |

BMW
No, BMW don't have an advantage.
The gearbox is clearly one edge that they do have. Alfa and Volvo are going through tons of them and SEAT says they can't enter without a sequential box. So BMW will be giving up an advantage in one area. I would say they will ask for a weight adjustment in trade. I think the ETCC rocks. It will be even bigger in 2003.

Considering the new reduced budget of the series, it is a stupid question to ask if all the Works teams will build new cars and sell the old ones to Privateers? Is there a chance that one manufacturer will just update their cars instead?
