When you do, I'll definitely be there to help you out....
Tix locations, where to stay, etc.... I hope it is sooner as opposed to later.... Last edited by Tim Northcutt; 28 Jul 2004 at 20:34. |

I'm in! A 10/10ths trip to the 500, sounds good to me.
Hey, whats the official beer at the Indy 500 anyway? You have to know the important things like this before we go off half cocked! |

I'll provide "advice" on seat locations, etc.... but not the funds to cover the expenses.... I'm not sure what the "official Beer" is for the 500.... I usually bring my own....that way you spend more time watching the race than buying beers... I drink Whitbread Ale "outside" of the track (they don't allow glass bottles inside) and I drink Bud from a "Backpack Cooler" (a great invention, BTW) inside while I'm watching the Race.... Guess I meet the "profile" for preferred beverage, don't it???? But I'd sure have enough cold ones for us to party before we go inside.... BTW... If you can make the trip, it is sure worth it!!!!! |

Split from the Indy crowds thread
Right, I've made the decicion to try my best to make it to Indy next year. It may be a long shot, but I'm going to make the effort. I'm living in Scotland right now...don't have a clue how much a plane ticket to Indiana would cost...I'll reserch that later. I definitaly want to do this. |

as much as I'd love to attend the Indy 500 , one of my biggest dreams is just to walk into the place when there is no racing on at all and just sit back and breathe in the atmosphere , walk down gasoline alley , pay a visit to the museum and stand on the yard of bricks picturing the cars funnelling down into turn one.
stuff like that is what legends are made of |

Hey Tim give us a "Taste of Indy" rundown sometime..both inside the circuit and outside in the wider Indianapolis area, what's the local delicacy? what can't be missed etc.
You're not allowed to include Denny's or IHOP |

DownForce I reckon flying to Chicago would be a better option as Indy is only about 4 hours away (something I hadn't realised all the time I was living and working in Chicagoland)

If you fly into New York, there is an airline that is based in Indianapolis called ATA that has good fares for very cheap....
Southwest is a good connect as well.... I'll give you a good, comprehensive rundown in the months ahead... In my next post, I'll give you some general tips on tickets....best locations and such.... But I would suggest the Northeast Vista.....Turn 3.... Good seats for the cost right at the end of the backstretch...you's eee all of Turn 2, the entire backstretch, and all of Truns 3 & 4 plus the north short chute... It is where I sit every year.... When you do come here, Carburetion Day is a "Can't Miss" event surrounding the Race..... You can sit anywhere in the place (it's general admission for that event) and get close to the pit area....plus watch the cars go through their final paces and see the "pit stop competition" That happens on Thursday....the day before (Wednesday) is "Community Day"...for $5, you get into the track and Gasoline Alley, get to meet the drivers and see the cars up close, and can even "take a lap" in your car around the track... That's also cool.... That will give you a great feel for the place as a whole.... |

I'll be at the USGP in June again, does that count?
I was lucky enough to meet up with Tim there last year, and while both he and I really like the USGP, he said that I have to get to the 500 to really get the Indy expierience. Since I've been going to Indy though, I have to say that that hallowed place, makes all other venues pale in comparison. Maybe 06 for me... |
