cavvy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
were the V8s up against the AFL in your market?

Interested to see how last weekend was played out on TV in your market.

Here in [B]Melbourne[/B ]on Sunday the AFL commenced earlier than motorsport & finished later.

The Saturday race was buried late on Saturday night - for Melbourne I cannot see the Channel 7 deal being anything but a disaster to V8 fans, what about where you are ?

I'm in Brisbane, we had the V8s from 11pm for an hour on Saturday and from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday. I have no idea when the AFL was televised.

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Cavvy. on what weird and uninformed basis did yoiu decide this?

Was there any footy on at 11 am when race two happened?

Did channel 9 have any footy on on sat at 3pm when race one happened?

the answer to the above is quite clearly NO, so wont this mean we can watch those races live on channel 7?

1-4 on Sundays, then the Thugby League which generally rates higher than the live 1PM game and the V8's. Saturday Night's telecast was preceded by the Lions game.

Hey Peckstar, I am feeling better - I would prefer it live - thank you.

What about elsewhere?

On Saturday for the Perth viewers Race 1 was shown on Ch10 at 11:50pm. We had AFL on Ch10 from 12 noon to 3pm and then from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

On Sunday we had the V8s on Ch10 from 2pm to 5pm and had AFL on Ch9 from 11am to 6pm.

I am also at a loss how Ch7 can show both during the day but will wait and see.

I am at a loss too as to how on earth C7 can show V8's and A$L. They $780mill for the $ooty, and we wonder how they are going to get a return for both? And who do you reckon will suffer? You see, V8's went for the bucks, they could not give rats about whether TV is on or when it's on or where it's on. They just want the money...

Here in Bundy the V8's were on at 11pm Sat and 2-5pm Sunday. There was a Swans vs Kangaroos game on the same time that I watched during add breaks

You cannot use this years telecast times as an accurate basis for what will happen under new contracts at a different network next year. The V8 season will start earlier and there will only be 4-5 rounds during AFL season. One of those will be New Zealand where the telecast will run 11-2 before the football starts,at least one other may be held on Saturday night and the other 2-3 will have split telecasts 11.30-1 and 4.30-6 with an AFL game in between.7 does not have rights to Saturday AFL in the new contract so the proposed telecasts of qualifying/shoot out/race 1 will never be affected by AFL.

It was mentioned that 7 (and 10 for that matter) have it written into their AFL broadcasting contract to 'on-sell' games.....for example 7 can on-sell any AFL games that clash with a V8Supercar round to Fox Sports.

I posed this on another thread but there has been no answer or seemingly any announcement. I would have assumed that the Development Series would be a part of any TV deal negotiated by VESA.

Of more interest i would have thought is what will happen with Carrera Cup TV (and other supports), with VESA doing all the filming and owning the footage.

Gee whiz, people complain already about the V8s not being on consistent weekends and strange times, imagine if they did the above... not only would people not know which weekend its on but wouldn't know what time its on!

As usual, TEN didn't show the V8s at all on Saturday night in Sydney. Instead we got it at the (earlier) time slot of 1:35am Sunday morning (I think it was past 2am last time?).

The TV program (and a PM from ford boy) said the replay of race 1 was at 11pm Saturday night, so I dutifully set the video for an hour. Imagine my dismay this morning when I find it didn't start until 11:15pm and when my video shut down at midnight, there were still plenty of laps to go..............

AND I DIDN'T SEE THEM!!!!

Why are you suprised? Every network has been doing that for years now to thwart people recording programs and fast forwarding the ads. In future just let it record to the extent of the tape (in my digital captures I just let it record till I run out of disk space).

You poor dears getting the V8s at 11pm on Saturday.

In NSW, they showed the AFL late and then crossed to the V8s about 2am or something ridiculous.

I could bet there were about 3 people watching the AFL; why they don't put the V8s on earlier I've got no idea.

And as for the crap you lot are spinning about 7 not giving the V8s a fair run, get real. You wouldn't spend the money they are and not leverage the bejeezus out of it. We'll have a far better coverage than what we've been getting the last year or so I'm sure.
