I like to cover every angle, Viv so as to avoid being boxed into a corner. (Especially by a Pie Lady.)

Colin, by a strange coincidence Mrs Viv's maiden name was Thagoras. Probably of Greek extraction.

Gosh, its a dog! Not my style to complain about the engine, I usually blame the driver or the chassis settings, but at Val de Vienne when the whole batch was cruising at more than 7k in fourth I had to use the fifth to jump over the invisible hurdle settle at 6,2/ 6,4 in fourth.
We checked every sigle part, tried different ignition timings from 10 to 16°, cam timing, camshafts and so on. The engine builder says its only a matter of running in… My mate has a fully original engine with 80k + miles in the conrods and its a weapon.
Next race will be at Charade, hope for the rain and stay focused on the chassis.
Thinking about a new head with better hydraulic lifters but if its a gremlin in the ecu or the maf it will be hard and costy to sort out.
Still had some fun (meaning two front wings and a bumper!) finishing 6 and 5 on 31 but I never appreciated rubbin' racing…
I have an image here of Gerry Mo and his Miata. All I know is it is at Charade and it looks like Gerard's dog is barking orders of what hose to fit where..... I will leave Gerard to explain in more detail

Having spent Friday pondering on the loss of Mike, the age thing has bitten again this weekend. My race-partner messaged me (I was away at an AROC Board meeting and conference) to say that checking the car before our race at Silverstone GP circuit next weekend, he'd found a leaking caliper, but couldn't find a replacement, so we'd have to withdraw the entry. Being with a bunch of Alfa specialists I did some networking and we tracked down a caliper (at a price) - so I advised my mate - stressing I didn't want to miss the chance to compete on this layout.

This morning, rather as I expected, he's told me that he's decided not to spend the money (which I'd told him I'd pay ) as a much cheaper alternative would be available in a week or so.....and he was thinking of selling the car and really didn't want to risk crashing or blowing the car up on one last race. I've felt all year that he was working up to this - he'll be 73 on New Year's Eve and he seems to be feeling that its time to stop, but its been a difficult decision for him.

I'm about 15 months behind him, and would be happy to keep going for a while, but can't afford to run a race car on my own, so I may have to consider something like Sprints and Hillclimbs instead.....

Time to take stock, for sure.

Yesterday's Classic Touring Car Club races from Mallory Park are on YouTube.
Great performance by Robyn Slater, pre66 category, race one is 54 minutes into programme.

Thanks a lot, Chris for uploading this cherished one. Wanda is the Boss, she's probably chosing the best set up or checking the brakes bleeding…

Still learning a lot, how to drive with so little power and cope with a demanding ECU! Each time an info is sent you can run way too rich and see the timing advance downgraded… Its the fith season for most, but not much help can be found. If everything goes well, next weekend will be the final at Ledenon track near Nimes. I already have a lot of things to improve during winter time and the engine builder says it will go better after the running in period.Fingers crossed.

Richard,

Tell him to not be daft, he's nearly a year behind me and if I can carry on, with a replacement hip and two gammy knees, so can he.

Yes Wiscombe without the trees! I've been going there for nearly half a century and don't remember that, although I do recall the derelict bridge over Castle Straight.

Richard if he really is serious then I'd dare to offer myself as a stand-in. Racing an Alfa has been on my bucket list for many years and I still very much regret not going ahead with Brunswick at the 'Ring 24 back in the noughties before it became too professional.
