The speculation is over: Repco has yet another set of owners & it is not SuperCheap.

So they are trying to get the same result as Macquarie did out of the company. They are in a good position to do so.

What did that cost them? Repco and what looks like might be a successful bid for Independent Liquor as well.

Private equity is an interesting game. Speaking to a knowledgeable source in the last few weeks, it is fair to say that private equity firms will ause a mini economy crash at some point when things go wrong.

I sincerely hope that no follower of this forum - friend or foe - has investment or superannuation funds with any of the these funds as when the market crashes there will be some really good deals and some very burnt investors.

Be interesting to see what happens to Repco's Supercar sponsorship....!

What does this mean for GRM? Will they lose the Repco sponsership?

It was mentioned by someone in another thread that things should be ok with the deal with GRM. But you never know with new people and exspecailly OS people.
I hope things will remain as is for GRM sake.

GRM kept Repco even after the Pacific Dunlop sale.

This is a tragic fall from grace of the once great Repco. It all started with the sale of property on which the stores operated out of in the late 60's and early 70's.

A sale to the Pacific Dunlop group, which gave it strategic alliances and many sales opportunities allowed it to blossom for a brief period.

The sale of the Machine Shops from 1999-2006 (the last machine shop went in February) signified the death of the last link to the great Repco-Brabham alliance.

The final nail was arguably the attempt to look into the "hip" market to compete with Supercheap, whilst neglecting the side of sales that arguably kept her afloat for so long, the Trade and allied trades sales.

I hope the company my family has been associated with since 1954 is still around for my grand kids to see. But I cant see it. RIP Repco.
