Could Renault loan Ho-Pin Tung out to another team, though? I know there were rumors about Chandhok losing his seat (I hope not), so maybe Renault have either let Tung go to HRT or the two have parted ways so he could do so? I'm not sure; it just seems more logical than replacing Petrov with Tung who really wouldn't be any better (probably much worse). If Petrov were out, I'd think they'd try to bring someone more experienced in.

Tung was a charming guy when I got his autograph last year, but he's not F1 material...

Unless his cheque bounced, Petrov is safe.
Huge wedge of money + he has not been as earth shatteringly bad as we feared. But you're right, they wouldn't give ho-pin a license just for the hell of it (and why would he shell out the mega bucks for one if he wasn't going to use it?) So HRT or Sauber sound most likely. |

Sauber would certainly move backwards if they put him in over Kobayashi. Possibly Hispania if the rumours of Chandhok Out are to be believed.

Why do you think Chandok got a drive in the years leading up to an indian GP? A local driver is just the boost an event needs. Anyone know any good Turkish drivers? |

We'd all love to see Erkut in an F1 car, really.

From what i've seen, this guy really isn't any where near F1 just yet.

He certainly hasn't been too impressive in other thing's he has done. Two and a third years of GP2 ... and only two points finishes in feature races. I'm sure he's a nice bloke, and to his credit he did win German F3 back in '06, but I don't think he's really F1 material.

The car would not going to win in anybody's hands, so you may as well get somebody to pay for the new motorhome. Who needs racing drivers in F1 anyway, the show is what counts apparently, not the racing! This is just sooooo frustrating! |

The Chinese government are probably paying for it. They bought themselves a GP and now they want a driver.
