[NZV80708R2] NZV8 Round 2, Ruapuna

NZV8’s head to round 2 of the NZ Truth V8 Championship at Ruapana for the GT Radial 200 just 14km’s west of Christchurch.

It’s a highly technical 3.44km anticlockwise circuit with 11 corners (7 braking zones). Top speeds of up to 220-230 km/h. Paul Pedersen (Falcon) holds the lap record from 2005 of 1:30.267

Noteworthy:
The major shunt into the side of Andy Anderson’s car has apparently forced Andy to lease another car with a new one already underway being built. Anyone got the head up on which car Andy is meant to be leasing?

Julia Huzziff had three hours of surgery on her shattered knee following the coming together with Andy Anderson. We won’t see Huzziff till Taupo at the A1GP round. A campaign is underway to help rebuild here drive. Repairing the car could cost up to $50,000 Donations can be made here www.jhr.co.nz

Inky Tulloch has rebuilt the Falcon after the head on with the Armco and is expected to be on track come Friday.

Two drivers have believed to have banked 2 tires from the Pukekohe round knowing they would come in handy at Ruapana, not sure who they are but have a feeling it was Paul Manuell, I think he is also getting a new engine for Ruapana. Anyone got the heads up on this.

I'm flying 9000 miles to get there, so not looking forward to the travel, but can't wait to get back to Christchurch. Hopefully it will not rain.

Andy Anderson to race Nick Ross's Commodore from last season at Ruapuna. For those not up to speed Andy and Huzziff came together in a horffic crash at Pukekohe (see Pukekohe thread)

Ross debuted his new chassis at Pukekohe and has offered Anderson the spare. Anderson to run his own engine and running gear.

Just gotten home from the track, saw the second half of the day. From the second practive without seeing times I know that Radisich was quick but the car is having some troubles staying in one piece, in and out of the pits and slow on track.

Mclaren, Porter, Radisich and Tulloch were all guys I saw go off. I never really knew what people meant when they said that a certain livery looks better in person, I do now though, the Fogg car I loved more and more every time it drove past. The Tasman car looks horrible.

Anderson making good use of the Ross chassis / Anderson running gear with a 14th and a 12th

I know what you are talking about Biggy G. What looks good on paper or on screen sometime just dosn't cut it on the track. I always thought that of the Betta 888 cars in V8SC series, looked good up close but got lost on the track

Suprised me to see the teams with spare cars, not something I expected to see with the New Zealand V8's, atleast not at the track.

The HPM team is really well presented, fully painted trailer, spare car out for fans to look at. Although I didnt see the Rat all day.

I really enjoyed the day, was good for photos because there were bugger all fans to get in the way of. And good to walk around the pits without big crowds. Definitely looking forward to going Sunday to get some racing pics. And hopefully a few of Mr Fogg on the top step of the podium.

Yea there was some confusion over the required spped on the rolling start and he nearly got a 10 sec penality added buti belive that because of the confusion they decided not to enforce it.

The NZV8's dont have a racing spoiler on the back, its just the standard BA rear bumper, and Guss I cant find anything on the net in terms of highlights, a shame really. Just got home from track, will post some pics and thoughts from the day later.
