I think it has been discovered that a stray star picket will puncture tyres and stop cars from cutting corners

Either that, or do what they do on many of the corners at Indy and stick a block of concrete on the apex. Remember when Brad Jones in the Audi tried to cut the corner coming onto Hill parade in 97? Needless to say, he didn't get an opportunity to do it again
