Dubai F1
Just wondering if anybody has come across anything, or heard anything on the progress of the mysterious Team Dubai. I read a Ron Dennis quote a while ago, but it has all gone quiet for a while.
Will they be racing in 2006? Will Mercedes supply engines? Who will drive for them? |

Whilst I haven't checked recently or anything, the other day I seem to recall spotting a comment from KB saying that that plan had been shelved (whether he meant for good or not I am not sure).
He would be, I suspect, pretty on the ball with regards this issue. |

hmm interesting.
I would really like to see them on the grid next year, but unless they are doing a very good job of keeping everything under wraps, it is too late now for next year. My guess would have been de la Rosa (with Repsol sponsoring) and maybe Albers driving for them. |

Perhaps, if htey remain intersted in principle, they are waiting for the 2008 situation to be fully organised before officially commiting to anything?

But at least it is "under constuction", as opposed to flat-out non-existent except insofar as the name is for sale.

There is a chance, that is if hell doesn't freeze over first.

You realise, Monster, that going by that last post you think that it is going to happen. Either that or you think there is a very high likelihood that hell is indeed going to freeze over.
Worry not, though, it is not hard to realise what you actually meant. |

I'm not surprised Dubai F1 came to nothing, it sounded like vapourware from the very start. No doubt a very rich man who found out he was infact not rich enough to build an F1 team from scratch. |

Wasn't it the same person who runs A1GP???? Maybe the money went to developing a new series rather than a team in a well developed arena....?

No. It was Jenson Button's old manager John Byfield. |

Byfield got into bed metaphorically with someone who has a dodgy background and allegedly did time in the States. Very likely there is a Walter Mitty (or worse) taking everyone for a ride.

With a name like Dubai F1 it was never going to take off.
